I'm looking for good LEB provider in Norway or Finland (no Sweden!).
Desired config:
Xen/VMWare/KVM
256MB RAM
5GB HDD
min. 100GB transfer
1IPv4 (and 1IPv6 if possible)

Cheers

  • I really doubt you are going to get a LEB company in Scandinavia,

    Thanked by 2HalfEatenPie tux
  • For Finland, you're probably better off with Torqhost in Estonia - From what I remember, they're directly peered with a Finish ISP, and the distance between Tallinn and Helsinki is only ~50 miles.

@ElliotJ - I would prefer something on the west coast of Norway or in Oslo (take a look on this http://bgp.he.net/AS29695 or 84.234.233.2, you can use traceroute.org - it contains links to various ISPs)

  • No LEB in Norway....

    Actually I found one (almost LEB) https://nordkappnett.no/en/info/vpsaccounts/ (http://bgp.he.net/AS31283, 80.65.63.10) - 8USD for 128MB VPS

Creanova.org, Finish budget vps provider in russian hands (I think) is the closest what you can get at Finland for LEB pricing however:

    • single homed ReTN network instead direct peering with locals
    • paypal surcharge (is this allowed by paypal at all?)
    • they obviously can't decide what type of virtualization they offer (you will see on their page Xen and VMware without posability to choose... I got VMware)
    • strange, really strange, mostly useless, billing system/control panel
    • you need to pay for "everything" (ie. OS reimage, etc..)
    • manual vps creation (I got it next day - acceptable)
    • no plans for IPv6
    • ....
VPS performance was relatively decent (in my testing period). If you really, and I mean REALLY need vps presence in Finland this is a option however I will wait for "real" thing... (it's just matter of time).

    VDS1-B

    Server : 4.00 EUR
    Domain : 0.00 EUR
Services : 0.00 EUR (extra services)
Surcharge : 0.55 EUR (on the method of payment)
    Total : 4.55 EUR

    US: No.
    EU: Yes.

You're probably better off with a VPS in Sweden: https://www.gridlane.com/vps/custom
It's outside LEB pricing however (10 euro a month for the cheapest).

  • There are some local .no west-coast colo providers who arent dead-expensive, I'll ask around (live there myself).

  • Most don't have prices on website, just "contact us", but http://tbt.no/produkter/server/ have dedi for 6000nok/year (~950$).

  • @William have you contacted smaller local providers too?

  • @joepie91 for sweden id grab edis :p

And Oderland for €36.66 EUR (including VAT) per year of course. IPv6 ready, stable... Interesting location also for those who's searching for Danish vps (TDC network).

  • Bamp, looking for FI and NO VM's, please halp!

  • Norway doesn't have anything cheap. This one is alright though, they have their own datacenter in Bergen (West coast, Oslo is east btw)

In Finland there are no (good/at all) LEB vps providers. People here pay what they ask for. Prices are around 15-40 € for that kind of box.

Edis does Sweden, sounds like a cheap porno :)

    @MikHo it really does!

  • @drazilox - I'm going to offer Good LEB in Finland.

@spirit - how much BW did you get? BW seems to be 10 Mbps. What would you
want from "real" thing ? Let's define it, and do it :) Is my offering near it?

@finlandvps Why do you keep digging up old threads?

  • @fliphost - I wont do it anymore. Didn't know it's not allowed though. Because here was discussion relevant to the topic.

@finlandvps The topics are old. If anything more needed to be added they would still be alive.

I got with this small legacy package which isn't available at their page anymore 100GB bandwidth which is more than enough for me. What I like with them is that they don't mess up with node (rare reboots, etc..) + stable connection. 10 Mbps?

    CPU model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5420 @ 2.50GHz
    Number of cores : 1
    CPU frequency : 1246.846 MHz
Total amount of ram : 128 MB
Total amount of swap : 128 MB
    System uptime : 272 days, 19:52,
    Download speed from CacheFly: 5.53MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Atlanta, GA: 7.91MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Newark, NJ: 12.6MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Dallas, TX: 13.3MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 7.38MB/s
Download speed from Linode, London, UK: 39.1MB/s
Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 51.5MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 5.74MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 12.2MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 12.2MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 20.4MB/s
    I/O speed : 71.3 MB/s

About your offering... I can't say much yet :) I am not so much info looking for big resources - I prefer long time stability without need to open support ticket every second month once I set up box. With new hosts is often issue that they mess up with node too much, regular reboots, etc... :) You don't need to squeeze as much as possible resources into 7$ plan but maybe offer also some really LOW END box (with yearly payment maybe?) for some $ less if IPs cost allow you that.

  • @spirit - ok, you seem to have gotten a better plan then. Their cheapest Xen/128MB instance VDS-1B 5 GB disk space - 300 Mhz CPU with unlimited BW, is 4 euros per month. How much are you paying them? Will take into consideration yearly offers and 128 MB plans. But I rather sell 7$+ plans as IPs might be limited to a few class Cs. I'll do more research on this. For IPV6 I can provide cheaper plans.

  • SpiritSpirit Member

How much are you paying them?

This was the plan I got (you will most likely understand it)

128MB RAM dedikerad (256MB RAM burstable)
5GB utrymme för alla era filer
        100GB trafik/manad
        Möjlighet till en lagrad säkerhetskopia
Kontrollpanel för omstarter, ominstallationer, backup m.m.
        24 timmars driftsupport via ärendesystem
        1 st. IPv4- och IPv6-adress vardera ingar
Pris 249 kr/ar exkl moms, arsvis betalning.

Around 36€/y including VAT. IPs will be most likely the most limitating factor for you, I think. More than network speed.
