Request - VPS for email

edited August 2015 in Requests

Hihi,

I'm looking for another VPS for a mailserver:

1 - 2 CPU cores
256MB+ Memory
20GB+ Disk space

Ability to set RDNS
Non-blacklisted IP
Location doesn't matter

I don't really have a budget, I hope to just see some random offers :-)

Thanks

  • You shouldn't forget to only go with trusted providers as otherwise the uptime may not be this great which isn't good for a mail server without backup MX.

Depends if it was a backup MX.

Nope, I do have plans for a backup MX though. I just don't trust evoBurst enough.

  • I've got a VPS with BudgetVZ location, got it since 15 days, uptime is 15 days, but really wouldn't consider choosing this one as primary mail server. If your specs were lower I'd say RamNodes 15$/y plan. VPSDime got a great uptime as well, or BWH.

    For Low budget.... Moosevz.com

Also, maybe Dallas is interesting? -->

For all our Premium VPS, we also included a free cPanel account of 1GB including Web/DNS/Mail. So can be your backup MX too. :)

I can do this for about $2/month or $10/year in Lenoir, NC. https://hostingbox.us/let.html

  • How about linode, digital ocean , vultr , ramnode , secure Dragon or buy vm?

You would probably want to discard all those cheap OpenVZ offers for a mail server.

There are plenty of offers meeting your requirements, do some market research.

A personal recommendation from me would be:
    http://www.ultravps.eu/en/

Hosted in Germany and very reliable. Would use them for my own mail and they are still pretty cheap.

  • 256mb may be too low for email server with antivirus / antispam features.
    Aim for 768 / 1024 mb minimum.

Yep, 256MB is even too low for AV on it's own

Whoops, I thought I posted 1GB+. Now I can't edit it anymore because the limit has been changed :(
