GoodHosting Any details on CHI-2? DC/Network/Looking Glass?

CHI-1 and CHI-2 are both within 350 E. Cermak, one of the largest data-centers in the world. CHI-2 is our latest deployment, using a completely up-to-date edition of libvirt/KVM that we manually compiled from HEAD the latest MainLine kernels, whereas our CHI-1 location is still using legacy CentOS 6 KVM binaries and kernels.

CHI-2 is a separate isolated installation in which we have rebuilt our infrastructure from the ground up to provide. For example, many issues that were found within our other locations (such as CHI-1) were put into practice when we put together CHI-2 and the other new location (not yet released.)

Recent improvements / changes in CHI-2

    • [Hypervisors] Now uses libvirt/KVM and QEMU from HEAD
    • [KVM] New Features: Limited qcow3 support (qcow2 + lazy refcounts)
    • [KVM] New Features: EasyInstall on all distributions listed in CHI-2
    • [KVM] New Features: Pass the host processor info into your guest
    • [KVM] New Features: KVM Nesting (VT-x passthrough) now enabled
    • [KVM] Security: Better network isolation over Bridging in CHI-1
    • [KVM] Security: Distributions must be configured before networking starts!

We have been placing all feedback we receive into improving our services!

I've updated the OP, sorry about that; it was a copy error from a previous offer.

  • @GoodHosting Cheers, thanks for the explanation.

Any plans to offer capped bandwidth plans in the future? I know it seems odd to ask, but my experience with most unmetered VPS providers is.. a mediocre amount of unmetered bandwidth.

I picked up a Ci1 plan a little while back and unmetered fair-use seems to mean.. ~30mbps up on a good day/route, 6-16mbps avg. Which is fine, especially considering the price point, but I wouldn't mind some burst-ability.

We're working on never having to cap bandwidth for anyone!

Well, in the past; we had to hard limit VMs to 100Mbps; as we simply didn't have the ability to do much else, as we were limited by what was possible in the 2.6 kernel that comes with CentOS 6 (due to dependency hell, and the RHEL ABI for kernel modules.) Since then however, we have moved up to using only the latest software and kernel packages on our CHI-2 cluster, and are able to more finely control how bandwidth is allocated to containers.

By default, containers created in CHI-2 have the following network policy:

minrate: 25M # 25Mbps (Attempt to guarantee at least)
maxrate: 1G # 1Gbps (Attempt to shape maximum at)
    burstable: 10G # 10Gbps (Allow bursting to 10Gbps)
    ratio: 0.5 # in/out both count!

I'd be glad to hook you up with a Trial if you can send me a Personal Message containing some information that can prove you were previously a customer with us (an invoice ID, order ID, transaction number, anything will do. If your account is still active, your account E-Mail would suffice) so you can see how we've improved this aspect :).

Still didn't answer my question :)

In one of our previous offer posts on LowEndTalk here, we had released the JingLing/HitLeap combo plan (no longer available) with "SEO-Class IP Addresses" which was a specific range of IP addresses that were announced through a different network than our standard traffic.

The prices changes from $5.00/mo to $3.75/mo if paid yearly.

Edit: Updated OP to add "/mo" after $3.75 so it is less confusing.

  • I may pick one of these up over the next week. Any limits on the duration of these offers?

  • Can you PM a test ip for Chicago? I could use one Ci7 for mysql backup. I have a server with another provider in Lansing, MI. Thanks.

As long as you pick them up before they expire in March, you're fine. The discounts are permanently recurring.

:) I know we started out pretty shakey, but we're doing what we can to improve!

  • Bought Enterprise Cloud (Nebula) - JingLing Special (5 Links / 1GB) but there is no jingling template in the nebula. Also support tickets are unanswered for several days now.

    All good now.

  • I picked up a Ci1 on Feb 8 and its status said "Active". But until now I get neither my ip nor the way to manage my vps. I asked you in my tickets, and no replies until now. You just deleted the ticket I opened. Would you explain it?

    Thanked by 1jose2010
  • Last month it took 9 days to give me the 20 VPS. You did not give me even one extra day. Now we are on the 8th day after payment and no news of VPS !! It's a shame your support !!! No answer tickets. Your service is an embarrassment!

  • No news of my vps. No answer tickets, OpenNebula URL does not work ... do not return my money. Goodhosting is SCAM!!
