I have the same. :D According to cpubenchmark.net it is slightly better.. (9.9k vs 10.1k benchmark points)

  • Can't you asking hetzner the service lifetime regarding server you rented from uniwebhosting?

  • Mine is also E3-1246 v3 with B85M-G43 motherboard :)
    Disks are HGST HUS724020ALA640.

    They wouldn't tell. :(

probably those are cheaper/easier to get for hetzner at some point, than the advertised i7 ... as far as i know nothing unusual - and who will complain, if he gets something better ;-)

as for my server I can tell later in the evening about the hardware, when I got time to play around with. so far I am very satisfied with everything and will be looking forward, how this goes on - performance will be no problem, thats something I have no doubt about ;-)

support has been very friendly and caretaking so far, I only think I wont need it much in future, cause I prefer to take care of this server by myself...

  • Proxmox is successfully installed now, and I wait my 3 additional IP:s. Server was provisioned with only one IPv4 address.

Also worth noting for the security conscious amongst you, it was just pointed out over at Google hangouts that they have no SSL on the client area.

same here, even the hardware specs are the same as yours ;-)

afaik the add. IPs have to be ordered on the robot each individually (by @uniweb of course ;-))
last time I did this for one of my own server with hetzner it took about 12 hours (over night) until it was ready...

no ssl for the client area maybe not so trustworthy, I have to agree with @W1V_Lee... but tbh it doesn't bother me that much as I am not planning on needing the client area very much ^^

:( I received my IPs almost immediately, I wonder why it is taking so long for you/Falzo? Maybe because of New Year..

Hetzner only allocate IP addresses during their business hours, it can't be done outside of that.

Like I say caveat Emptor, it's good deal albeit a convoluted way of trying to sell dedicated at a loss. Where possible pay by credit card in case they try to withdraw or cancel before the 12 months is up and at least you can chargeback.

Even if you only get it for the 12 months at that price it's worth it.

  • 2Checkout just told me that if anything happens I can call them and they will sort it out, even after several months.
What worries me a little bit though is that their 2 year pricing is even cheaper @14.58$/m, that's unsustainable.

Here's my assessment of Uni Web Hosting. Note, this is not a recommendation nor a rebuke. You should make your own decision and determine whether the benefits outweigh the risks.

    SUMMARY

I resisted signing up with them because of their lack of history and absurdly low prices. However, I ended up giving them a try because of the pricing, which is probably why most people would consider them. In the end, the server was not what I had hoped. I never had one from Hetzner before, so any dissatisfaction with the server is due directly because of Hetzner's facilities, not Uni Web. I requested a refund and received it. Below are the details.

    LONGEVITY

Longevity is the biggest risk with the company. Will the company and service be around for at least the length of your contract and will there be no issues that would cause a cancellation during that time frame? Will the company change hands during your contract period and your contract becomes null? I don't have clear answers for that. I do have past experience with deals from other companies that are too good to be true and as long as they can get me to break even, then its okay.

At $200/year for an unmanaged service or $288/year for a managed service, if your service continues to run for at least 3-5 months, you would break even. Anything beyond 3-5 months and you're ahead. However, the savings may not be worth that nagging feeling in the back of your head that your server may disappear suddenly one day. If you're putting things that aren't mission critical and you're willing to take the risk, it might be something to consider.

But, as everyone else here have voiced, the pricing does not seem sustainable. Is it a loss leader? Is it an elaborate scheme? Is there special pricing between Hetzner and Uni Web? Those are questions that are difficult to predict unless you're involved in the business. I did ask questions about the business and was told they're resellers of Hetzners.

    TRUST

The client area is not protected via SSL. In this day and age, that's something that really shouldn't occur.

Support is responsive and professional through both tickets and Skype. They're patient and while the language barrier poses a bit of a problem, I get the feeling they try. When I paid for the service, they did deploy the server within the agreed upon time frame.

When I requested a refund, it did follow their internal procedures, which takes 2-3 business days after a refund request is accepted. A refund request seems to take about 1 or less business days to be accepted, presumably because of a different department. I was quite skeptical at first, partially due to the language barrier. I also contacted 2Checkout during the process. In the end, I did receive my refund without any hassles from Uni Web.

    SERVER

For the lowest server model, the one I received was as everyone here posted, a E3-1246 v3. I did not get the chance to request the control panel to have it unmanaged, so I can't comment on that process.

    CONCLUSION

If I have less mission critical applications later on, reviews stay positive, and Uni Web decides to offer monthly plans, at a higher price of course, I may consider giving them a try again. Hope this was useful for someone. And again, make your own decisions based on your own risk tolerance.

...which is same information stated on their invoice, so probably he's the one in charge ;-)

for any other question, please contact us by email. not here.

Thank you to all our clients, who have expressed their honest opinion about us, it is our best advertisement, and the real truth. thank you

  • I am still hoping this is legit and if so, I would be happy to take the plunge but I honestly don't feel happy dropping $228 on a server that might be gone in a few weeks, again this might not happen but still the risk is there.

I just find this sudden appearance of your company in the dedicated hosting market with such unbelievable offers in frankly a decent budget datacenter (from my past experience) is a bit strange. I guess you could of got these via the auctions but I still don't see how you could even be breaking even on these so I would like an honest answer in that regards.
