SpotVPS - 217d Uptime

At the time, I needed a central located VPS with a low amount of RAM and decent bandwidth. I saw SpotVPS had similar resources to BuyVM so I signed up, with full understanding that I could lose $15 in a Paypal dispute.

Setup was instant and the offer was what they promoted it as.

Comforthost / Foroquimica run the SpotVPS brand. Foroquimica is a Spanish company from Bescanó, Spain.

That's quite the uptime. I dislike the cost for a dedicated IP though. I've never seen anyone do a shared IP vps (how would you even do that?). Granted I've only been a customer of this particular side of the market for a year. At least that's how I interpret the dedicated IP option on the order form. I may be tired ;)

The bit in bold really worries me - before you signed up you were already thinking of PayPal disputes?

Who doesn't when signing up for a 15$/year company whos parent company hides behind whois protection?

I have contacted SpotVPS about the dedicated IP's.

    Jeffrey
    Hello, I have a question

On your SpotVPS VPS's, why do you charge extra for a dedicated IP address?

How would a VPS be reachable without a dedicated IP?

Hi, that means a vps will be having an ip address by default in which you will be able to connect it. The dedicated ip is for an extra or secondary ip.

Do you ever pay attention to the folks getting burned on LEB over "too good to be true"

@Jeffrey That certainly makes more sense.

    About 50MB/s on my VPS.

I get about 50MB/s - 65MB/s also but I'm just using this to serve up static files so its more than what I need!

Did you think that a company, who has a headquarters in Spain, could have lost this in translation?

  • I never seen a vps which use shared ip address. It's amazing here!!!

Neah, they dont say they have shared IPs, only that they can dedicate you another, an extra one.
If you know other languages it is easier to understand how that happened.
Very long ago, some 10 years or so, I was setting up OVZ on my home server and gave out some to test for friends. Gave out port ranges instead of IPs as I only had one.
