https://kihihosting.com/about - one of those who talks a lot but says nothing. How's from legal point of view to run online company in Canada? Does it need to be registered?

I am not a BGP expert, but this looks somehow wrong to me. @SkylarM?

They probably just bought IPs from Crissic, just like GVH did.

What the hell. Anyone actually managed to use some serious storage on their $15 plan?

I would have done but don't want to use my real card number and MaskMe virtual card's do not work for UK residents.

http://serverbear.com/benchmark/2013/04/05/zk4iPv54K1o1daZN 3644GB disk. Not to mention that the IO is not bad at all.

    What happens when I hit 3644GB? ;)

  • @forthcloud please go make your own Dreamhost thread...

  • Here ya go - the developer behind kihihosting.com

    Looks legit...

Leased IP space. It shouldn't show as USACCESS anymore, and the other 2 BGP announces are just sort of a catchall. The /24 takes priority of course.

Agree that from a buyer's perspective these are red flags. But reviewing the developer's info it look like a legitimate endeavour by a young Canadian with skills & training... who needs to learn more about online business :)

"Founder of Kihi, a fast, intuitive and security-oriented cloud / virtual private server hosting solution. Virtual private servers with inexpensive costswhich are deployed within seconds. Built with developers in mind and utilizing a highly-capable API. Actively simplifying the complexities of deploying a server with a custom control panel and multiple pre-made images to choose from."

Thought that might tweak the interest of some providers here :)

  • Will he last long with these prices, as a startup?

  • The panel isn't that impressive, you can get the same functionality out of a SolusVM module for WHMCS.

Meh. Looks like a nice project but lets see where it is in 6-8 months before I/you throw money at it imo. A one man band running all home baked solutions isn't necessarily a selling point.

    One-man-band hosts should be avoided.

They got PayPal now. Try them and share.

Order placed, paid by PayPal, 'server ready' email received two minutes later, ssh login successful, service as described.

Like all things in life, moderation and perspective is key.

I would rather have a one man show where the owner is responsible, knowledgeable and professional than some insane cluster f### of a larger company.

Bought one to play around with.. Server was provisioned instantly after payment. Also found out that CPU and HDD monitoring in the client area gets updated every 10 min and BW usage updates every 24 hours, so it's not monitored in real time.

The VPS seems pretty responsive and anything you issue from the control panel like reboot, stop, etc.. seems to happen instantly on the VPS.

I also like the fact that the default for VNC in the CP is set to off, you need to manually enable it if you want to use it, which after 2 hours will automatically turn off.

Not the fastest network but for the price I'm quite pleased with the VPS.
