Lol... Probably not the reason though... Probably due to the router being on an internal IP.

Why would nlayer be slabbing their routers...How would you slab a router?

Private IP's are used heavily in BGP sessions to protect them. The 192.168 there is probably nlayer<>cnservers. 198.12.14.106 is our router at CNS and the * * * * between would be the GRE's.

So can you ping Rob's router from yours? Anything on the interface? Counters increasing? Errors?

No, we couldn't see eachother ping wise.

As of right now it looks like it was a line card failure on Rob's end. He moved the GBIC around and either his router reset the ports to 'live' or he has 1- 2 ports in the same card that are bad.

Either way, I have to do some hardware ordering to make sure we have enough spare GBIC's.

Aldryic's writing an RFO and he'll send it out to everyone pretty quickly.

    I'm off to bed.

God, 36 LET emails flew right into my inbox (due to them delivered together after the outage). Now I'm having a hard time deleting all of them.

    Hi Jack;

At approximately 0430h PST this morning, our Las Vegas location suffered a
network outage at the Fiberhub datacenter that lasted until 0610h PST.
Initial investigation showed that our BGP session was completely
unreachable, indicating a problem within the data centre outside of our own
    router.

After preliminary testing, the Fiberhub technician confirmed a line card
failure within their own hardware. Replacing this brought our BGP Session
back up, and our Las Vegas deployment back online.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this outage - if you have any
questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via our Support System
    located at https://my.frantech.ca/

    I think so.
vpsboard is hosted on LV nodes and it seems down now.

As you may have noticed, there have been a handful of network blips and
short outages in our Las Vegas location over the past couple weeks. After
extensive troubleshooting, we've determined that our router's platform,
Vyatta, is simply no longer adequate to handle our transit needs for Vegas. At 0000h PST on Wednesday (04 June), we will be bringing the router offline
to replace the Vyatta platform. We're estimating a total downtime of roughly
30 minutes, but due to the scope of this maintenance we may have to extend
the time if necessary, or arrange for a short series of reboots on the
router in order to apply the needed configurations. Your services will not
be rebooted or shut down for this maintenance - they will simply lose
external network. This will only affect the Las Vegas location - if you have
any services in our New Jersey deployment, they will not be affected. During this maintenance period, our billing platform
(https://my.frantech.ca) and our VM Management platform
(https://manage.buyvm.net) will be unavailable, as both are served from Las
Vegas. We have elected to not migrate these platforms offsite for the move
due to the short downtime expected - if you wish to follow along with our
progress, you are welcome to watch both Francisco's (@FrantechCA) and my
(@Aldryic) Twitter accounts during the maintenance. In addition to replacing Vyatta, we are also planning a build for a backup
router. In the event of our core router failing, the backup router will keep
our services online until the core router can be brought back up. This plan
is still in the development stage, and more information will be released
once we're ready to deploy it. We apologize for the recent turbulence, and thank you for your patience
while we work to get these issues dealt with. As always, any questions or
concerns can be directed to our Support system at https://my.frantech.ca/. Aldryic C'boäs,

This is what I love, professionalism in LowEnd providers. Problem arises, support have the intelligence and experience to troubleshoot and all was well within an hour or so.

  • The network is down for more than 1 hour now, and the uptime for the last 30 days is 99.55%.

  • I believe they send out email about the network downtime earlier, not sure if it's for this though can't remember the mentioned time frame.

A reminder, Las Vegas maintenance starts in 20 minutes! Shouldn't take long at all (Fran's famous last words).

    -.-

Edit: Yay its backup and its 5am time for bed! I need to work on setting up some type of redundancy for Virtuaclub's website this afternoon. We have a substantially redundant cloud but lack of a redundant website. BuyVM down = site is down (No services affected)

Atleast Fran's DDoS protection works awesome. :)

    Up :)

Another 1+ hour down time in 2 weeks.

It's been a fustercluck with the router.

As I mentioned in another thread, I already asked Rob about his older RX-8.

He had one that he replaced when he split his network so there's a good chance I'll just get that ASAP.
