Cheap dedicated server providers with good latency to Eastern Europe (Level3)?

Hi,

I'm new here, mostly I get VPS servers, but this time I need a little bit more RAM, so I decided to get a dedicated server with similar specs to these:

CPU: Intel i5/i7 or similar AMD (more than 2GHz, 4cores at least).
RAM: 8GB-16GB.
Port: 40Mbps upload minimum preferably 100Mbps.
Traffic: 2TB max.
IPv4: 1-2.
Location: **Europe**.
HDD space is not relevant, 40GB will be enough.

I plan to use the server for hosting a couple of game servers. I have the best latency to Germany (Frankfurt 35-40ms), Netherlands (Amsterdam 40-50ms), Italy (Milan 45-60ms).

If you know any cheap providers that offers Dedicated servers in these locations please post a link here.

Thanks in advance!

Hetzner? They have 60 Gbps Level3 link.

@iKocka Their servers are over 49€ + setup fee, I was looking for something with lower specs and a lower price in Europe. I guess there aren't LEB DS providers in EU.

    Best Regards!

  • There are tons of LEB DS providers in EU, they're just all in France. If Online.net, OVH or Firstheberg don't work, and Hetzner is too expensive, I think you're pretty out of luck.

  • There is, but i don't like game servers.
    Try OVH?

  • Server4You?

@manacit Never heard before for Online.net and Firstheberg.com, I don't have experience with France location. Will look at some of these providers. Do Online.net and Firstheberg.com have looking glass links?
@rds100 I've heard for OVH but they are not that cheap, but I think the latency is over 60ms if remember good.
@iKocka I had a bad experience with Server4you so I'm not going to buy servers from them anymore.

Also I forgot to mention that I don't need technical support of any kind, only for restarting the server if it's bugged somehow or maybe once a year OS reinstall but I doubt.

If someone knows other providers please post them.

    Thanks for replying!

  • How's Amsterdam or London? Whats your timeline?

  • @Vita

OVH has a couple lines - their main servers aren't cheap, but they have http://www.soyoustart.com/fr/ and http://www.kimsufi.com/fr/ for lower and very low priced options!

  • If OVH (Kimsufi) is not cheap i am afraid you are out of luck and have to adjust your expectations.

  • Vita said: Their servers are over 49€ + setup fee,

They have serverbidding starting from 23 euros with no setup fee if you're interested

@MarkTurner I haven't tried London but I doubt that they have latency similar to Germany or Netherlands. Amsterdam is good but I didn't find cheap dedicated service providers.

@manacit I didn't know for soyoustart.com, are they available from other countries other than France? @rds100 That's cheap enough but I think I can't order them from my country only France and other EU countries if I remember , but also they have too low specs for running a couple of game servers. I'm located in Serbia.

@darknyan Most of servers with quad core CPUs are over 45€ on Hetzner server bidding.

    @bobby I think they are over 80$.

    Thanks!

  • @Vita - We are trying to convince Delimiter to start offering our servers in Europe. If there is enough demand I am sure they will.

  • @Vita for Serbia there was some company KGB hosting or something like that i think they will have the best latency.

@rds100 Yes but they only host game servers and they are not cheap even for game servers they start from 20€/month for one game server (32 slots). I figured it would be more economical for me to host my game servers at my own dedicated server.

  • @Vita i think they also do dedicated servers, but not sure, you have to ask them. Cheapest for the long term would be to colocate your own server in some local DC in Serbia. Of course you would have to buy the server then, which could be a big initial investment.

  • @rds100 They don't offer dedicated nor VPS servers anymore. Reason for that is they want to have total control in their country ( and region ) when it comes to game hosting. Their official statement for leaving the VPS business was they were always under DDoS attack ( even though they pride to have CISCO firewall protection in DC ) but yet again their game servers were running just fine. Colocation in EX-YU countries is very expensive.

    Thanked by 1rds100
  • @harisp didn't know about this, thanks for the information.

@harisp @rds100 I had a colocation contract in Serbia with a fairly reasonable price for two 2U dedicated servers, but I was attacked with a DDoS attack and my contract was terminated. I'm not currently looking for expensive servers, I need something that fits my current low budget.

  • @rds100: Not a problem. We learn something new every day! :)
@Vita: With Verat I suppose? AFAIK they are the cheapest ones on long run ( 1,2 years contract ). Please check your message inbox maybe I can help you out.

You are silly, why do you equate good latency to "being on Level 3"? When I see Level 3 on my traces, the latency is going to be mediocre at best.

Some mentioned OVH, but their RBX or even SBG aren't going to be ideal ping-wise to the Eastern Europe simply due to distance.

Try i3d, they have an amazing network. Ping their website as the test IP: www.i3d.net (Rotterdam). One bad thing about them, is they try to charge you for every possible "additional" service, e.g. you get no IPMI, KVM is like 15 EUR/month, and even IPv6 is not free (which comes as standard at pretty much every other provider).

The best way to get a cheap server from them is to follow their WHT threads, often there are some nice offers and/or coupons: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php?do=finduser&u=172693&starteronly=1

@rm_ My latency to them is around 51ms, and for Germany (Hetzner) is 37ms. I have a lower latency to some Netherlands VPS providers around 45-60ms (it changes I'm not sure why).

    Best Regards!

  • http://www.gameservers.com/dedicated/ (not cheap)

Might have to contact them for more locations

    http://contabo.com

    Have Germany

    http://www.firstheberg.com or http://online.net

    For France

@jeffreywinters Contabo has a good latency 30ms average. But sadly their Dedicated servers are over my budget, VPS seems nice but they have setup fees and I'm not sure how game servers would work on their VPS as they are not using OpenVZ or Xen as I recall, maybe they have some rules about that will ask them.

    Thanks!

  • Did you try the online.net network using http://ping.online.net website ?
