Http File Server

I am In need of any http file server like proftpd is for ftp.
Where user acceses ip with a port and server demands their username and password
and gives them access to their home directory

as proftpd does really well.

create virtualhost for each user or use mod_userdir in apache then create .htaccess and .htpassword for each user in their home directory

i dont want to change web root directory of my server
just need a http file sharing utility by this

so if user accesses to hostip:443 then it will ask hi username and password

and then will show files in his /home/user directory

    edit:
i have a rutorrent server running with each user having allowed 25gb of quota
    hence need something like this

Try a PHP solution: ask for a username and password, verify it by redirecting them to their directory (i.e. if they put username JOHN, send them to /home/john/www and send the login details).

Obviously, the /home/john/www will have an .htaccess file with username and password.

i use barracudadrive on my home server, each user can have own password and user directory, SSL Certificate is very easy to install an 8 yo can do it.

    http://barracudadrive.com/

has WebDAV access and you can use email links.

Access and share inbound and outbound private documents, photos, videos, or other files, from your smart phone or tablet (iPhone, iPad, Android, Nook, Kindle, Blackberry), Windows, Mac, and Linux on your own secure BarracudaDrive server.
