  • Thanks OP. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't there already exist the VPS Classic line where you can choose BHS if you want? What's different in this new VPS line? http://www.ovh.co.uk/vps/vps-classic.xml

    I received it after 20 minutes ;)

  • @hwdsl2 - Guess it meant this line now will be fully opened for US/Canada market.. Seems all OVH resellers need review their prices for now..

Don't expect ANY support at all from them, except if it's network related, otherwise they'll kindly reply in poor english: We don't offer any software related support on these vps'es.
You get what you pay for. (This is our personal experience with OVH services, we're using OVH professional support). I bet @MCHPhil can confirm this aswell.

Why? Lets take an example of MyCustomHosting here @MCHPhil

They offer KVM, SSD cached disks, 1 Gbit ports, good support & some other features like those which OVH do not offer. For those who do not care about quality & go for lowest possible prices only yes the OVH offers might look very fancy but those who have been hosting for lot of years know that generally you get what you pay for.If you have any query regarding your vps from their support, just try contacting them & let me kow after how many days they responded.

Another example is of BeastVM @Sander @Floris they offer Gigabit ports, non-slabbed OpenVZ & Pro DDOS protection & very fine support and of course you know OVH don't offer all of this.

I bet OVH can recover much faster their slabbed OVZ containers in case of hardware disaster (they guarantee 10 minutes) than any reseller with non-slabbed products can. I don't understand why people think slabbing is a bad thing.

I did not say slabbing is bad because it really is a good thing if done right.I was only trying to point out differences between OVH VPS & those from their resellers.

  • They want ids so nothing for germany etc w fake adress

  • I just like new OVH control panel, and ability get all in one, domain, hosting, VPS, backup, etc in one place for lowest prices

To enable Anti-DDoS "Pro" feature, aka. permanent mitigation w/ firewall, login to OVH Manager, click on "IP" on the left, then click on the "gear sign" to the right of your IPv4, and choose "Mitigation:permanent mode".

  • I just got my code and ordered over ovh.com/us with my german adress. Order worked.

I'm not the best for this example. I have a contact at OVH for issues that I know to be caused by their irregular setup. It took me forever to get the contact but it was worth while for me. He knows I won't bother him unless it's absolutely required. So far, minus the first contact, I have not had to contact him nor do I plan to. My concerns were answered very aptly and very precisely by him. I can say nothing bad about my exp. I know their frontline support sucks but their model says we do not provide support so their frontline can suck in that aspect.

My servers are the older line up of e5 1650's with 64GB per node. Not the new lineup that includes all that newfangled stuff..

Now tell me again, should we go match their offerings? Because if we would, we'd also go match their quality.

Nice self advertising, untouchable but questionable..
