I choose Ubuntu because they tend to have more up-to-date packages. With 13.10, I get a 3.11 kernel, Xen 4.3, and relatively modern versions of other packages that I use on a regular basis.
Ubuntu if I have a choice. CentOS+EPEL is good too.
Ubuntu for servers and Windows for home.
Ubuntu server ; debian wheezy centosOs and winsrv 2012
CentOS or Debian, usually Debian on mini vps. One day I'd like to try Arch for server.
I'm curious about the choice of Ubuntu for server as well. Are there any performance advantages or is it mainly a matter of newer/more packages?
Centos or Debian depending on what I want to run. Also windows just because I like RDP xD
Well, by proxy "newer" packages indicates better packages. It has a newer version of GCC, which is more capable of safely optimizing binaries for use.
debian kicks ass as always!
Ubuntu, Debian, and CentOS are great.
EDIT: Desktop: Windows 7. ;P
Centos all the way, somehow I don't like Debian that much
I build my own distro from Gentoo.
Ubuntu 13.10 due to Apache 2.4 and such.
Otherwise Debian 7
NixOS
can't wait until they release Fedora server edition in next release (F21/F22) If I remember correctly
centos easy and the best OS
Debian on 2 vps and CentOS on one for webmin/kloxo cp
Debian Wheezy - with the wheezy-backports kernel (3.12.9-1)
OpenVZ: Debian 6 x86
I use mostly Centmin Mod, and when that doesn't quite fit Debian.
Debian and Windows Server 2012 R2
CentOS is real nice, but me and my team are faster on Debian/ubuntu so we use it on all new hosts.
i use opensuse on my desktop and centos on my servers
Server: Debian
Desktop/Laptop: openSUSE
Server: Debian 7
Desktop: Windows 8.1
Laptop: OS X Mavericks
I heart Debian.
It's all about Centos and Windows 2012.
What? No one likes Damn Small Linux?
Que es Damn Small Linux?
Ubuntu, because it was what I taught myself Linux on and haven't found any need to switch since.
The smallest usable Linux distro I know of. (http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/)
Dead project I think.
