New OVH servers in US (Quebec)
Hi, OVH has started a alpha test of his new DC in Quebec.
We have one server on this datacenter.
You can test:
http://us.vpsdeploy.com/10MB.file
http://us.vpsdeploy.com/100MB.file
IP: 8.7.244.191
It's a 100Mbps server.
Regards.

I'm not sure when Canada became a part of the "US"
Speeds from NC:
Anyone know what the pricing will be like when these are offered as an actual product? Well I guess I should be asking will be be more or less the prices for OVH in the UK?
From OVH BHS
Quebec is not part of the USA! Though I think I speak for fellow Canadian's when I say that if the USA would like to trade Alaska for Quebec they can go right ahead. Though you have to take Sarah Palin, we don't want her.
This is still a VERY early Alpha test and test results should be taken with a very tiny grain of salt.
For example my route to my test server from here in BC Canada goes all over the USA, then to France, back to the USA then to Montreal.
The Alpha test servers are Atom D425, 4GB memory and 2TB disk connected at 100Mbps.
@luma could be interesting if you can post the traceroute...

Getting 7.3 MB/s Home internet at my lake erie house. Montreal will become a big spot. We should have a surprise soon.
More likely pulling the test file at the same time as someone else, seems the OVH server is limited to 100mbit

How do I get those nice code blocks?
Put it between

720k is pretty low, even from EU... Well, OVH is not known for low BW, probably they didnt setup all routes and BW yet, I think Montreal will be a big hub soon, I know quebec government is keen to attract a lot of BW there.

Hmm, entirely forgot to add my download test from my home connection. The maximum download speed I can pull from my ADSL connection is 1.40M/s. This test download eventually reached 1.39M/s (so, close enough), but took quite some time to get going, and it had a few dips.
Yes, Mostly French though most can speak/understand English (if they like the looks of you, else they just pretend not to )
Montreal also has ton of old metal (especially aluminum) factories, and these factories have their own Power substations already in place so for a company like OVH that takes care of a huge chunk of infrastructure.
Also Electricity in Quebec is CHEAP!
So overall it makes sense for a company like OVH. French staff to keep things simple within the company, cheap power, part of the infrastructure already in place etc.
Indeed. Routing is quite terrible at the moment to them from the northwestern part of North America:
