Unfortunately it appears that both our servers are horribly broken (network). Can't even SSH in.

Our servers have horrible DD speeds:

    root@praisejebus:/# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 181.181 s, 5.9 MB/s

Our servers appear to have caught some kind of medieval disease, perhaps polio?

    My thoughts of HostNun:

    Oldish templates, no Debian 7.

Picked Debian 6 in WHMCS and got provisioned with CentOS.

Broken network apparently, got in to the VPS via the solus serial console, did a dd test and installed Debian 6. Network is still broken even with the reinstall, I suspect a node issue. (I did open a ticket about it.)

    DD test:

    root@praisejebus:/# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 45.7268 s, 23.5 MB/s

    root@praisejebus:/# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 71.0304 s, 15.1 MB/s

    root@praisejebus:/# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 181.181 s, 5.9 MB/s

    Yikes, I hope not...

Really? That's strange, because I personally created your account and I'm 99% sure I remember selecting Debian 6!

Either way, you two were definitely provisioned on our slowest node, and as @Microlinux says, the test results are not particularly surprising (the RAID is software RAID at that).

From the node http://vps.hostnun.net is on:

    dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 22.0237 seconds, 48.8 MB/s
    dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 24.4748 seconds, 43.9 MB/s
    dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 15.0652 seconds, 71.3 MB/s

tl;dr I/O may not be approaching superluminal speeds here, but we don't call these our legacy plans for nothing!

  • As you can see this offer is almost as popular as GVH's repentance thread and is selling almost as quickly as @0xdragon's horrible DD speeds!

//only 3 left, grab one while you can!

  • WWJD?

  • Out of stock, thanks for reading.
