Chicago VPS Provider

Could anyone suggest to me a reputable low end VPS provider in Chicago? I am looking to open a TF2 game server there.

It's probably much to ask of most providers but if they had service similar to RamNode's at the same or slightly higher price point I would be thrilled!

    We offer VPS in Chicago.

What specs are you looking for?

  • Hi Mc,

The RamNode boxes that run my servers without a hitch have the following specs:

    512MB RAM
512MB VSwap (vswap gets lightly used ... 256mb to be safe i think)
2 CPU Core Access (the srcds process can only use 1 core ... it will be the only thing running on the box)
40GB SSD Space (only need around 10-12GB disk space; the SSD is an asset on map change)
    1Gbps Port (can be 100mbit)
2000GB Bandwidth (can be around 4-500GB)

I put some comments beside each spec. I think it really comes down more to whether the provider allows their overselling to impact the nodes.

I am going to check out your website now. Thank you for responding!

Lets just say that my website is terrible.

Our servers on the other hand, are good. (Maybe not as good as Ramnode...)

  • Hey Mc,

What is your cancellation policy? I shouldn't need more than a day to see if the service is a good fit.

Would you be able to throw 256MB vSwap on the 512 VZ plan, or be willing to give a coupon code I could use on the 1024 VZ plan?

  • @Mark_R said:

Agreed. I didn't find anything wrong with the site.

    Hello Dagothur,

If you are unhappy with the service and it is within a reasonable timeframe, just submit a ticket and I will refund you.

1 Days notification is required on VPS services.

  • Sounds reasonable.

    Should I go coupon hunting?

Nah, just tell me which service you want discounted.

  • 256MB vSwap added on to the 512MB VZ plan or a code for the 1024 VZ plan, if you could.

Just order the servers and I will adjust the invoices.

    $4/m for 1GB and $2.50/m for 512MB RAM.

  • Cool man. I appreciate it!

    I've got the order in.

  • Thanks again!

  • +1 for @mcmyhost too

The service itself seems solid (no lag with a full server) and it's definitely backed up by quality customer service.

Much like RamNode, if Mc were to open additional locations where I wish to put more boxes up, I wouldn't have to hunt for new providers!

  • Did I somehow get logged in to the McMyHost support desk? :)

I admit I did get a little carried away. Should of gone to PM earlier, my apologies.

I think for a company that does its trading solely via it's website it may be an idea to turn that around.
