Do you have something like 'ipsec status' that shows you tunnel is built up?
tcpdump can do it quick if you just issue pings between two computers.
best way is to make services listen to VPN ip adresses then you are sure 100%
Do a traceroute. If it shows nothing... well then it's secured.
They don't have VPN ip
