    @liam

    Home Office Minister Vernon Coaker set a deadline of the end of 2007 for all UK ISPs to implement a “cleanfeed”-style network level content blocking platform. By the middle of 2006 the government reported that 90% of domestic broadband connections were either currently blocking or had plans to by the end of the year. The target for 100% coverage was set for the end of 2007, however in the middle of 2008 it stood at 95%.

    No news anywhere to suggest the conservative-liberal-democrat coalition government has reversed that. Perhaps you're in the 5% of uncensored Internets in the UK.

    Of course, seeing as the blocklist isn't actually published anywhere, no idea how you'd verify if you were being blocked or not.

  • @ramnet said: In the UK a few years ago the UK's Internet Watch Foundation blocked Wikipedia. British Telecommunications ISP passes Internet traffic through a service called Cleanfeed which uses data provided by the IWF to block websites appearing on their list. When such a page is found, the system creates a "URL not found" error page rather than deliver the actual page or a warning page.

    Cleanfeed blocks child porn, and can be disabled by calling BT if you wish.

    It was someone on here who recommended LeaseWeb, but its weird how your average LEB VPS outperforms a premium VPS from LeaseWeb.

    Blocks so-called pirate websites too (http://www.newzbin.com/) being one of them

  • @ramnet said: I think you will find that SOPA doesn't exist in the US anymore, as it failed.

    The sopa author has a new bill which is WORSE than SOPA. But its being disguised as a Child protection bill.

    @DanielM

    I think you will find that bill has no support whatsoever - after the public outrage at SOPA politicians aren't going to be able to pass anything like that anytime soon. Certainly not during an election year.

    ROFL :-)

    No Irish as far as I know. I do have a taste for Guinness though.

    Happy St Patty's day though if you are Irish.

    I wasn't aware Texas had already exercised it's right to secede...

    NASA is going to be pissed.

  • I heard on Texas that atheists get shot on sight.

    Well i guess thats not true for just Texas, but for the whole bible belt.

    I remember when top gear went somewhere in there with "Man love rules", "Hilary for president" and "Nascar sucks" on their cars and ended up being threatened with guns.

    Texas is basically America's version of Scotland to the UK. They never stop seeing how far they can push everyone else. And they are both energy/oil giants. And they both want to secede. And the people talk funny and are considered a bit strange by everyone else :-P

    Do any of you folks actually live in Texas, and/or have actual firsthand experience with which to back your claims? ;m

    Amazing he made it to one, given his... manly personality. ;m

  • @liam said: He always seemed to be at the library, maybe he was looking for wife number 3.

    Better than looking at a strip club.

  • @liam said: He always seemed to be at the library

    Who the hell goes to libraries these days? o0

    Dont get the wrong idea, he was no scholar. He claimed his apartment couldnt be equipped for 'net, so he leeches free wifi from everywhere. Have a look at his twitter account; nothing but continual bitching to public wifi providers. ;m

  • @liam Hrm... I can't seem to locate it. Could've sworn it was dr_mike, but that account no longer exists. I wonder if he's moved on to a new identity.

    -glares at @Naruto-

  • Nah, I've covered this particular topic already, just giving the boy a hard time.

    I highly doubt mike is still here under a different name. His ego wouldn't allow for such a "defeat".

  • @Aldryic said: just giving the boy a hard time.

    Sounds kinky. Off topic but @drmike thought I was Chief once.

  • That was a pretty amusing thread. I think the whole damn community trolled him that day XD

  • Ugh.
