Mails marked as Spam by Gmail any clue?

Hi,
Mail going to spam from our mailserver. We have all values correctly like DKIM, SPF, PTR and the IP is clean.
Tested on
http://mail-tester.com/

http://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx

And it is 10 out 10 on mail-tester
We use default templates of WHMCS, someone said maybe that is the reason?
Anyone who is using WHMCS having the same problem?
Any clue?

    Most likely IP reputation according to Google. "Clean" for you doesn't mean "clean" for them.

  • This isn't a WHMCS problem but the provider you're using might have been sending trillions of SPAM to Gmail.

    Share your IP address and let us check that for you.

    Sure the IP is 37.10.112.232
    Even before listed on UCEPROTECTL3 we had this issue.

    AFAIK Google doesn't use UCEPROTECT, so moot point.

    Google doesn't use any external IP reputation checks that I'm aware of. They have an internal IP reputation system that they rely on. You're being filtered by content filters. You'll never know why short of luck with trial and error.

    I have had lots of customers that get all emails except for the default "Hosting Account Welcome Email" template.

    They seems to be pain in the ass. We have some brand new subnets, even not using them and already listed there.

    You don't have rDNS set on your IP

    We have changed the IP address but we did have rDNS on it.

    Set up DMARC so you can see the issues directly from Google plus any other places your email is winding up in spam.

    You need to ensure all your marketing emails have an unsubscribe link, otherwise you're in violation of the CAN-SPAM act in the USA, CASL in Canada, and probably also GDPR given it specifies that it should be easy for customers to withdraw consent. Some other countries have similar laws too. Transactional emails are usually exempt from this requirement though, at least with regards to CAN-SPAM (I'm not as familiar with the other laws in other countries).

    As for whether that affects your reputation to Google... I'm not sure.

    Google and MS as well as others, probably, are large enough to have their own lists and I suspect some content filters.
    Similar emails in a short period received from ANY IP will kick in the content filter. Since many panels send similar mails...
    I suggest you re-write the standard templates. It can help.

  • UPDATE: As might other people in the future be interested.
    Google has it's own hidden listing. Your IP might be clean but it could be the ASN or the company name blacklisted by Google or the IP.
    We have changed the region with whole different ASN and it is fixed.

  • FYI the reason this happens is more than one person that had mail delivered to them from your IP clicked that the mail was spam. Once multiple people mark e-mail from an IP as spam, even if you pass all the other barriers (SPF, DKIM, etc), you will be spam binned because as @Yakooza mentioned, it results in having your IP added to their internal spam list. This is a huge pain in the ass because all it takes is a pair of jackasses to click spam to have all your e-mail end up in the spam bin to Gmail.

    The only solution to this is having the person you are sending to open a ticket to Google and ask them to fix it. From the sender side there is very little you can do to fix this directly.

    Yes, we have checked everything. Back and forth. Even changed the IP multiple times (within the same IPs range) but nothing changed until we changed the company and location.

    Yes and, at least that of MS is deeply flawed. We have one of the cleanest IP ranges and MS still marks it as spam. When people asked them why, they plugged in some sale for their mail delivery system.

    MS postmaster support claims zero issue with my IPs as well. A little birdie whispered in my ear that there is an IP rep layer that those guys don't even know about too, that doesn't report anywhere, and only high level MS staff can see. You can overcome it though, but you won't know how or why you did.

    The good news is plenty are caught by it to the point that if you use Office 365 and don't check your spam folder, you can only blame yourself for missing important email. So at least you're always in good company.

    If you open message in SPAM folder at gmail you can view source of email (with headers etc.) and there you may be found some reason why Google send message to SPAM.
