    For anyone wondering:
    500Mbps / 165TB on gigabit or 2Gbps / 660 TB on 10 gigabit.

Include routed IPv6, at least /64 subnet, to get listed.

  • 45 euro for a non dedi 1gbps which is not even fast in todays standards. Hell many users can get 1gbps at home for less then that. Shit deal imo

Start hosting on your home network and see how fast your ISP is gonna cut you off.

Depends. I pump 5 TB+ each month via my 4G. No problems.

It's not about how much you pump trough.

If an ISP catches on that you're using your residential connection for commercial purposes they usually cut you off. At least here.

They are very open about it: you can push 500 mbps constantly on that server for 45€/month. It is a great deal.

Try to keep the line busy with 500 mbps constantly and most domestic ISPs will kick you fast. Also consider what was mentioned above: most providers disallow hosting services I domestic connections (they want to upsell you into business pricing for that).

Sorry, but then you should remove the "Unmetered" from the subject.

165TB on Gbit is not unmetered.

I did 100TB in and 35TB our on Tcom Croatia 500/250Mbit. No problems. Every month.

On wired connections in Europe nobody gives a shit.

  • I agree the price is expensive , i wish you didn't remove the old 50TB plans , and instead you can offer Unmetered as an add-on since most people won't need it :(

Can confirm - it is possible in EU at good internet provider. I also transfer time at time within 1 month 100-200 TB in and over 100 TB out from home through wire 1Gbit unmetered optic, when need synchronize online and offline HDDs backups. And nobody strangled me, third year.

    datacenter connections mater

  • Is it bulletproof Nuclear proof? I am little bit concern about the Nuclear electromagnetic pulse.

  • @kwaralala said: It's hilarious people are comparing residential connections to datacentre links.

In Eastern Europe most home connections are better than datacenters.

100Mbit unmetered costs 85EUR at Jastrebarsko/Zagreb, mostly Cogent

250/100Mbit unmetered DTAG/AS3320 + static IP anywhere in Croatia is 350HRK/50EUR

ToS explicitly state no fair use.

Is there truly no catch here? I'm in asia and there's so many catches in residential internet. They specify "up to 1Gbps" etc but the guaranteed international bandwidth is only 15 Mbps. It's also common to throttle torrenting or things they don't like. But hey, ISPs make sure they route well to speedtest sites and don't throttle speed tests. You could of course encrypt your traffic or use vpn but they can throttle you anytime if they don't like your traffic usage. You guys have it good in europe.

  • Residential connections and datacenter connections are incomparable. Even if your home ISP gives you a full symmetric Gbit with a static IP it won't be good for hosting anything more than a simple server.

Sure, you can do it and I would even go as far as to say that in most cases it would perform well. But when it doesn't perform well, you can't complain anywhere. Because it's not the intended use for your home connection.

I'm not talking about FUP's or throttling here. More talking about contention (FttH here in The Netherlands is 1:40). And if there's an outage it's just best effort. If you're lucky, they fix it within hours. But if they don't, there's no way to blame the ISP.

If there was really no difference between hosting in your basement and in a datacentre, there would be no datacentres anymore.

Additionally I doubt any residential ISP will give you free BGP sessions.
Of course most people won't need it. But one should compare the whole package. It's more than just "up to x Mbps at y EUR"

  • @dfroe said: Additionally I doubt any residential ISP will give you free BGP sessions.

My former ISP gave out /29s to residential customers. That was so rare that I've never seen it anywhere else.

No catch. Most of traffic in Europe is peering anyway, unlike in Asia. I'd say 80%+ of Croatian traffic can be peered off at DECIX and VIX, less than 1000km away.

@dfroe said: Additionally I doubt any residential ISP will give you free BGP sessions.

Tcom charges 500kn setup (around 75EUR) and changes your contract to business - Business means you pay the same, plus 25% VAT.

SLA - gov mandated - is 95%, and minimum guaranteed speed is 25% of line.

Croatia does use mostly 10G GPON at 1:80, so you get 125Mbit guaranteed. The fiber network is owned by the gov, not the ISPs. We use a free access model like Sweden, any ISP can use them.

You lucky one. Over here business means you pay 10x..

While in Germany most houses rely on a pair of copper wires..

Still doesn't mean that this speed is guaranteed. And even if it is then I'm wondering how much of the time that has to be guaranteed.

Also GPON is a shared network, so if all your neighbours decide to get in the hosting market too it won't do well for your connection.

Netherlands mostly uses EoF (ethernet over fiber) for FttH. Less shared, but still not usable for hosting.

It's a very nice philosophical thought that a consumer line that's fast enough can be compared to a datacentre network. But given that your insisting on it I'm wondering when we will see your NAT dedicated servers in Croatia offer.

I think anyone worth their salt has hosted something at home, at some point. It's fine, but it's not comparable to a datacenter hosting with proper redundancy etc... theoretically, it could be like that at home, but rarely is. And also we can learn from this thread that residential internet connections vary widely per country, and probably even per ISP in that country, so a blanket statement like "all of Europe"/"all of Germany", etc... is probably unhelpful.

It's correct that it's not fully dedicated, but we have never stated that unmetered = dedicated either. The ratio is very fair on these servers. 32 1G servers share on 10G. If that uplink is any way saturated we will upgrade it.

With us allowing 50% utilization of the link at all times, it's as close as you get at this price point without paying a lot extra for a dedicated link.

Please also note that our TOS states you may be asked to upgrade. 500Mbps is not a hard limit per say, and if you use more and don't bother anyone, we will most like not come knocking. :)
