Best server I could get with $30/mo?

Hey there,

I was just curious on what the best dedicated server is that I could get for $30? Preferably in the EU, I've come across some in Hetzner's Auction but I was wondering if there is any other provider other than Hetzner offering something within that budget.

  • Kimsufi (from OVH) - https://www.kimsufi.com/en/servers.xml

They have a selection of budget servers, with their most expensive server being $29.99

What is the server spec you are looking for?

That one mentioning by GayRun is currently sold out - it's a online.net Server in Paris via OneProvider. But you'll find more servers in that price range there: https://oneprovider.com/dedicated-servers/paris-france

Please note: support is about non-existent. Not a good idea if you go for just one machine and that one should be mission critical... but then, that wouldn't sound like a plan anyway.

When asking for ideas/quotes it is a good idea to state any details like that from the start. Help people help you by giving details without having to be asked for them (or dismissing suggestions later because of details you didn't mention up front).

To be more helpful than just moaning...
Perhaps throw "dedicated, in stock, <$30, 1gbit" and any other reqs you have into the filters at https://www.serverhunter.com/ and see what it pulls out. Obviously not every offer out there will be listed but you'll get a fairly representative sample.

+1 for OhJohn, as he said NL, DE, FR and even more locations, old hardware almost no support at all. Not a single one of the issues I had with oneprovider was ever solved by their support team, that is, if they even reply. Sometimes they may just not even reply to you. their 1gbps for that price is shared FUP, so depending on your luck with your neighbors you may get more than 100 mbps but don't expect 1gbps

here is a recent reply I got from them

We are afraid we cannot guarantee minimal speed. Sorry about that. However if the bandwidth is below 100Mbps the data center will check the issue and if there is a client abusing the FUP the DC will cool him down.

    • Hetzner support is good, you can get dedicated unmetered 1gbps

    • Viasky.co the most powerful 10cores server you can get for that budget (Intel Xeon E5-2680v2). If you're looking for performance than you might want to get this server, although it's 30€ not 30$

By all means, if your budget is more than 15€ per month, do yourself a favor and never buy from kimsufi, please...

Also, it’s unmetered but not unlimited. They check for 95 percentile usage every X hours. Every model is different and ranges between 100mbit/s and 200mbit/s. Some more expensive models reach 400-500mbit/s. You need to ask support before buying.

First time hearing Viasky.co, how's the reputation like? They have some decent reviews and seem quite new (March, 2021?)

Euserv probably has one or two offering in your budget. But hetzner has better network. So its auction servers would fare better. There may be few around black friday but they are playing catchup with hetzner's standard price.

I was one step away from buying, but a promo with another provider came up, so I didn't order. However I contacted their support several times and I can tell they're pretty nice people and answer quickly. (although It might be tricky since I contacted sales, maybe technical support is not as good? I can't tell)

As for Euserv, Their setup fees are a bit too much, specially if you're on budget, and I heard nothing but bad things about the support, and their network isn't that good (even when I connect to their servers in Germany from my Hetzner servers in Germany!) but still better than 100mbps kimsufi. Also, I contacted their sales several times to inquire about extra HDD and prices, never got a reply.
P.s: Eurserv server marketplace has not setup like hz auction, but Hetzner still wins

Bump, I decided to look into the Netherlands Market with a €30/mo budget, preferably 1 GB/ps Port. Is there anything available somewhere with that type of price?

Yeah it's possible in NL, walkerservers (and possibly andy10gbit can make an offer if you pm him via discord).
    https://walkerservers.com/dedicated-leaseweb/

There is also seedhost, but their support is crap compared to andy and walker

    https://www.seedhost.eu/dedicated-servers.php

Also the cheapest servers from WS (25 and 27) may fit, but they have setup fee and for this price you get much better with walker/andy/seedhost
    https://www.worldstream.com/en/dedicated-servers
I would not advise to go with WS if your concern is the budget (value for money)
and of course as I mentioned before, viasky for their NL location (NL 1)

Even if it's if €5 higher it's fine, I want to priortise performance after all. Just failing to find something decent in that range.

The 4x2TB SATA from walker for 35€ is pretty decent imho. And as I said, andy10gbit on discord may possibly have something for the same price same specs or maybe more ram for the same price, even if he doesn't list them publicly.

Then, maybe be spectraIP or hostslick (providers here on LET + they have websites) may have some unlisted offers for that price :hushed: their price range is usually slightly higher but with higher specs (more cpu cores or better processor than E3-1230).

I've sent andy10gbit a message, I'll see what he has to offer. The CPU that walker offers is quite weak, at least compared to what the others offer in your list. Since I want to priortise performance, I was hoping for something better, but I could still consider it andy doesn't have anything in stock.

I would not really get my hopes up (cpu wise) for this price range.
The Intel E3-1230 (or equivalent i7-3770) is like the typical CPU you see with every provider in FR/NL/DE for budget servers around 30, specially if you need some storage (2TB+). The only exceptions are some hetzner server from auction, you might get a 980x (6 cores) for around 30€ or Viasky 8 cores xeon, 2TB SAS for 30€.

See all these e3-1220/ 1230 :joy:

  • You may choose from the following with the budget of 30$/Month:
    Simplyhosting --29$/month
    Cloudhostweb --20$/month

  • Hetzner auction unbeatable prices
