They probably came with Maple Syrup and/or Scrambled Eggs, that’s why.

Well, I get it. I thought it was controlled remotely via an electric relay or something else like that. :D

Na, Not at the moment. Everything is ticket based for hard resets.

Update folks: Only got one of teh RPI 8GB Ram 256GB Drive left!
    Plenty of colo space!!!!!!!

  • DataIdeas-JoshDataIdeas-Josh Member, Patron Provider

    All sold out of RPIs.
    Thank you everyone.!!!

    Colo space still available!!!!!!!

  • interested in colo but why is it so much more expensive than rpi to colo a rpi?

$14+ minimum while you get better with rpi.. i can understand price diff colo a NUC vs a RPI, but RPI is triple the cost to colo instead of just rent from you, get replacements from you, not pay for hardware, etc ?

Simple. Lets take a 8GB RPi 4. That is $75 for just the board. Plus the POE hat, SD card, Power, Bandwidth, Rack Space, Cooling, etc. The hardware costs can be driven across multiple months. While Colo. You can have your hardware there for one month and say you want it back. Also it will take up more room in the rack.
The price is across the board if you want to colo a RPi. That is a decision up to you.

Some providers charge 1-hour "remote hands" fee ($50) to unrack a server. Hardware not unracked within 30 days of termination is considered abandoned and becomes owned by the data center.
    This deters rapid cancellation.

Hmm good clause to put in the TOS.

Maybe wave the fee after a year or 18 month. Since hardware does need to be replaced. Just saying this because I am thinking of co-lo'ing a Nuc with you and a $50 fee to unrack would change the economics.

Not sure on the pricing but rest assured @FrankZ I'll take care of you. Your in good hands.

All in all There should be something though to the unclamed hardware part.

    I recalled the source: https://nexril.net/legal/terms
It costs $80 to derack servers, but this might cover more than one server.

    • Advanced Support - $160/hour, 30 minute increments, 30 minute minimum

      • Deracking or moving devices within or between racks
    • In the event the Client's colocation service is cancelled or terminated, the Client agrees to immediately vacate all Client equipment from the assigned colocation space. Clients must pay any remote hands fees, listed above, associated with the removal of their equipment.

    • Should a Client not remove his or her equipment within 30 days of service termination, the equipment will be considered abandoned.

  • I think these guys could literally open a whole datacenter just with Raspberry Pi, and people would still ask for more.

  • Just wanted to say Josh has been really helpful and quick to respond. I have a Raspberry Pi 4 through them and just upgraded to the “Micro Colocation”. Shipped an AMD “NUC” to them and it was setup within 24 hours of delivery. Rock solid service!
