Congrats with nice exit. The main question: will you buy private island in bahamas or buyout price range was not that high?

I remember the time InMotion offered me $17k/year to move to Virginia Beach. That was funny. I was thankful in the end, wouldn’t have likely had the same career. But it does make me wonder how they treat their support team. It was an immediate turn off from the company as a whole for me. Sysadmins living in poverty and all, which is all you could do for those wages in that area.

I’m not saying I’m a great catch but Linux admin work is generally considered a bit above making French fries.

With all due respect to those sysadmins but if they were living in poverty...they were doing some horrible choices not the company.

I used to have a 1969 Camaro. Sold it a few years ago though!

Oh, now I'm really sad. That was a beautiful car.

... and we'll miss you too, Nick!

Thank you for being a loyal customer of RamNode, and I understand the concerns brought up here about pricing.

Our focus is actually not on pricing right now. At the moment, we are working on plans to add more unmanaged products, improve user experience, increase redundancy within our OpenStack clouds, and expand core network services to provide faster speeds and better reliability.

If you have questions about your account, feel free to reach out. I'm happy to help :)

  • Right now

Could you be more specific on this part tho?

Right now means that after "increasing redundancy" with openstack.

Just enjoy while it lasts. You can always jump the ship.

I don't have services with them.

Just that sentence looked like bullshit to me.

The acquisition just recently took place, and pricing changes are not part of any active roadmap discussion right now. I know transparency is important here, I'm just trying to give an honest answer based on where we are with our current plans.

What do you really expect them to say?

"We promise to never increase prices for the next __ years"? No host will say that.

Everyone jumps on any host that is sold with all these dire predictions of doom. I would take InMotion at their word as far as the near future, however you define that. As far as their crystal ball can predict, RamNode will stay the same...but of course, the industry is always changing, they're running a business not a UNESCO World Heritage Site, etc. so I'm sure eventually things will change and evolve.

The smartest thing you can do is keep your stuff migration-ready...with any host. Why not practice? What's it cost - $7? :-)
