Looking to get a better deal on my dedicated server

Hey! I currently have this server configuration from SoYouStart:
Intel Xeon E5-1620v2
64GB DDR3 ECC1600MHz
2x 480GB SSD SATA Soft RAID
/28 IPv4 Block

I'm paying for that a total of 39$ a month (I also paid 50$ in setup fees).

I'm looking for a reliable provider, who can either beat this price, or just give me better specifications with a maximal price of 50$.

Location has to be Europe, both IPv4 and IPv6 must exist.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hetzner made me go through a lot of pain :/
I had an AX60 I think? Just couldn't deal with it. And it ended up costing much more for not working as intended. (Some networking issue)

  • The cheapest one, AX41-NVME

With what you’re getting at that price, there isn’t much choices other than where you’re at now, and Hetzner.

Maybe OneProvider, Nocix or WSI, but then again, you’re better off staying where you are.

Yes, that is the one I had. Sorry for the confusion.
With /28 it's around 50 euros a month. This is closer to 60$ and not a significant improvement considering the deal I currently have.

Got you, thanks for the help!

    Hi,
Where is your server located currently? The price is very good!

If you don't see a Ryzen 5 3600 with NVMe disks as an improvement over your current E5-1620v2 you don't need something else at the moment.

Just to show the difference, we could compare them by their Geekbench 5 score:

    Intel Xeon E5-1620v2: ~3241 (https://browser.geekbench.com/processors/1031)

    AMD Ryzen 5 3600: ~6608 (https://browser.geekbench.com/processors/amd-ryzen-5-3600)

It's almost double the performance you're getting right now. Maybe you should specify what exactly you are looking for.

Apparently you don't need more performance and are comfortable with what is being offered you at the moment.

Further you can't get IPs cheaper anywhere at the moment than with OVH. They're still throwing them out like nothing, even though we're facing an IPv4 shortage.

And you can't compare your current SATA SSDs to NVMe SSDs.

Don't switch or change your running system, when you're fine and happy with your current setup.

    Thanked by 1chocolateshirt

  • $39 for all that is a steal. With other providers you will pay that for the IPs alone.

Why do you want to move out from your current provider ?

  • Are they still offering this package?

Why do you want to move out from your current provider ?

Maybe they want a very dedicated server provider.

I know this was posted some times ago, but I just read it and I think I got brain damage so would like a refund.

  • SYS is either 250/500... so all around the block hetzner ax-41 with the full 1g destroys the outdated crap OVH is peddling on SYS.
