Thanks. I'm totally ok with the one man setup and I'm ok with outages, but I'm not ok with no information about why the site is down. There are so many communication tools available these days, there is no excuse for not keeping your customers in the loop. This prevents me from using the server in a production environment.

If you are ok with the one man setup and ok with outages, why would you care why the site is down? It still wont matter anyway

One person can only do so much and no one is asking or forcing you to use this for production environment so if you really care about availability and frequent updates.. pick another host that can commit this or that is already doing this exercise

Don't expect any form of communication if that happens, an entire node as well as their website were down for over 12 hours with no update whatsoever and this wasn't the first time it happened this year. No SLA, no compensation for the huge downtimes, no nothing.
If you don't mind the random downtimes and lack of communication they aren't that bad for a development box, otherwise stay away from this provider if you plan on using the server in a production environment.

    Thanked by 1sandanista
  • I need to be honest with you guys. I regret buying this.
The price was incredible and specs as well. My node is running stable without any downtimes, which is highly appreciated.

On the other hand, I don't know what happens if there is downtime. I would be such a screw-up. As you pointed out, there is no communication and if there is, he is pissed off. In this offer, there mentioned 24/7 support, but it is not correct. I can not reach him on live chat and in a ticket, it seems to me like he has a vacation or something like that.

He does not care about my tickets and he started to respond only if I mentioned that I am going to create a dispute. He even said to me that I am low priority customer, which I agree with because the deal, which I got was quite below cost.

Since the beginning of this month, he deleted many tickets across customers including me. So, I created a new one, there are 16 responses from me and from him 6 responses. Even he said that he did what I wanted, he didn't. It's like you got 16 GB RAM, but just 128 MB SWAP. Yes, this is not something which was promised, but it does not take 24 days...
What would happen if it is down? You can not reach anyone. You can not do anything.

He promised me backup from Virtualizor, it is already a week and still nothing. In the meantime, I was able to backup it myself within 2-3 hours.

TL;DR: don't expect any support and sometimes you can't even create backups in Virtualizor. Don't use it for a production environment. It's driven by just one guy. Buy rather RackNerd or something else. Their support is much better than this and they are communicating with you. All downtimes/outages are communicated.

You should take a look at TrustPilot (not on his website)

  • @snt, I don't really understand what you are ranting about. I'm just saying that things stop working and it's nice to know why. End of. Also I wasn't aware of the one man setup until after I got the server. I can just use the server for something else, no problem.

That doesn't change anything. So what if you got a good deal, he is posting these deals by himself on a regular basis with no mention that buying from here instead of ordering directly from the website will result in no support and no SLA in case of downtime. It looks like everyone is a low priority customer once they buy a server with this host and don't forget about the company name change which I guess it happened 3 times by now.

  • Yes, I completely agree with you!

@Pepe said: He even said to me that I am low priority customer

Do you have proof of the provider saying this to you? Because I don't agree to this statement as to me there's no such thing as a "low priority customer", however there are low priority issues/cases.

So if this is how the provider labels their customers, I would just pack my things and leave, and settle with a different provider who cares about their customers equally, regardless of how much they are paying for their services and only prioritize them based on their issues/cases/tickets whatever.

End of the day, it's the provider that's selling the services at whatever price it may be and it's not like the "low priority customers" are getting it from the black market or something.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Thanked by 2seriesn _MS_
  • Do you have proof of the provider saying this to you?

You could take a look here and take a look at the response on 20th January. It's ridiculous that since 6th January (it was created earlier, but deleted), it is not solved. So, I don't know how else it would have been meant. I would understand that if he would write, for example, "Sorry, it will take time, and I will let you know if I get to it." or "Currently, I am dealing with tickets, which has higher priority. Can you remind me this in a week?" It is at least something other than radio silence, which is not good and because of that, I can not recommend it to anyone. What will happen if VPS is down and if there is an outage? Nothing.

Anyway, I know that I can add swapfile on existing internal storage, but it is possible that others have this issue or other VPS providers are having bigger SWAP by default. All the time, I was having usage of SWAP 100%. I could be more polite, but I was trying to use promoted live support and chat with him, but it was impossible. In any case, it didn't harm to ask, right?

Hopefully, it will clear the misunderstanding even though someone can see it as a low priority issue. It depends on point of view.

  • I run my backups daily because of this. I'd most likely cut my losses and leave if the service doesn't increase this year. What I don't get is that he uses hetzner, I have other providers using hetzner as well and I've never gotten downtimes.

He uses OVH in the UK too and there were probably more than 5 downtimes totalling a couple days of downtime lately but these things can happen sometimes. He only sent an email several weeks later after the downtimes became worse and claiming there was some bad ram module with the dedicated server and there will be a planned maintenance of about 10 minutes to replace the faulty modules yet he didn't check any of the servers after the maintenance ended and it seems all the windows servers had issues after the restart which resulted into more than 16 hour of downtime, this one being the latest as of now.
While he claimed he would be compensating his customers for all these downtimes on the UK node he never did, even more he said it's not worth his time to do that for offers that are being sold via lowendtalk. I think this says it all and while I still have a few months left with this provider I will not be renewing the services for sure.
The downtimes didn't really bother me but the lack of communication and support tickets being deleted or claiming all these are not worth his time, for sure did.
