Sadly, PayPal had the decency to demand 20% fees so I ended up receiving 4.15€ of the 5.24€ I paid, but that's nothing I can blame @ViridWeb for.

Ask them to use the paypal function of refunding the payment so no fees apply for you.

Then I'd refund the manual refund now and then they need to refund my payment and AFAIK that would leave me with the fees I paid for their manual refund because PayPals new policy is written by greedy bastards.

They manually sent a payment to me earlier today, maybe you should try creating a support ticket.

They also sent out emails to everyone affected:

Because of huge number of orders we do cancelled few orders as we do not want to oversell our resources,
I think as a user you can understand the situation when a company oversell a server, we really don't want to do that to our clients.

Users who did not received refund for cancellation of their service or order please open a ticket within 24hrs

Our billing team will issue full refund to you ASAP

Your account will be removed from our database within next 24hrs as we do not store, share data of our clients

So if you failed to open a ticket on time and account got delete then kindly contact us directly on Skype before you open a dispute with PayPal as we have no intention to hold money of our clients when we failed to deliver the service to them.

Sadly, PayPal had the decency to demand 20% fees so I ended up receiving 4.15€ of the 5.24€ I paid, but that's nothing I can blame @ViridWeb for.

Why manual transfer instead automatic refund?

Honestly, I wondered the same, but I guess only @ViridWeb knows the reason behind that.
I'd assume that they only sent back the money that they received (4,78€) which would be 5.24€ (6$) minus the PayPal fees and then sent it back to me as a business payment so I had to pay another set of fees which leaves me with 4.15€.

Kindly please open a ticket and provide the transaction ID

As per Indian law Paypal needs to auto withdraw all payments within 24hrs. And provider can't issue refund using credit card.

So that's why we send a manual payment as refund.

We will refund full amount no matter even if we need to pay more that what you paid.

Just provide us your transaction ID

Yeah, I don't think you get charged fees if viridweb did a refund instead of sending you a payment. I wonder if it's because viridweb loses some kind of reputation score when they do too many refunds

We have to send refund manually as per Indian law we can't hold money on our paypal account.

Most of time we are sending payment of $7 to $8 when user paid $6

We have failed to provide services to user so it's pur duty to refund them in full amount no matter how much money we lost

Wouldn't it have been cheaper (monetary and reputation) to get more resources than refunding? Anyways, I appreciate your efforts to reduce the drama.

No, we don't want to oversell the resources.

I think as a user you know how it's feel when your vps hosted on an oversold server.

In this case we faild to provide services, it's our fault

That's why we are requesting people whose order canceled to provide transaction ID so we can issue a full refund.
