edited September 2020 in Offers

Get Web Hosting are now offering SSD VPS Hosting from multiple locations including UK, Germany, France and Finland powered by the AMD Ryzen processor on super-fast NVMe SSD drives.. Plus, all Get Web Hosting VPS hosting services include free Microsoft Windows licenses, Snapshot Backups and Anti DDoS protection, as well as a large category of operating systems and control panels to preinstall.

You can now also customize your VPS via the order process automatically upgrading its hardware, IP addresses and installing a control panel of your choosing. We can now also supply DirectAdmin licenses from only £4.00 a month with all VPS servers.

Lots of people been asking about when I will be doing the Finland Special again at £29.99 a year, unfortunately it was only a one off promotional offer to celebrate our new locations and would be unsustainable to let it continue. However love to give you guys a bargain so I have doubled the SSD storage of Finland VPS 2 and Germany VPS 2 to 100GB.

  • @SCAM_DONT_BUY care to elaborate what you mean exactly? My guess would be the GBP/EUR to USD conversion, but from what I've seen on LET this is somewhat ignored. Also, giving advice/sharing information could be more helpful generally

If I tell what's wrong there is no need to read the rules anymore.

@SCAM_DONT_BUY I mean, if you insist to blame someone for mistakes but deny to help them, the world's not gonna get a better

Anyway, if you really want to "play" this way, I'm going to do too for this case.

    General offer rules

    1. You must have a provider tag to post any offer threads at all.

    Yup, definitely.

    1. You are allowed post an offer every 10 days (posts in the "offers" category and the "shared hosting offers" category are on separate timers)

    Yes, also okay.
The last two offer post were posted on Sep 9th and Aug 25th (>10 days apart)
The last two shared hosting offers were posted on Sep 8th and Aug 8th (also > 10 days apart)
    Everything alright so far

    1. For currency other than USD, it is your responsibility to ensure the equivalent USD price at the time of posting is within the rules.

This! That's the only "problem" I've found. Sure technically speaking, that's breaking the rules. But even after I asked in my previous comment if you mean this one, you dodged to answer. You could have easily said what's the exact problem. It's the same as in this thread ( https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3133438#Comment_3133438 can't hyperlink on my mobile), where you didn't mention the existing 84$/month limit (I believe). Again blaming others without real intentions to help or to prevent mistakes.

    1. List the final recurring price after any discounts. Just the discount percentage is not enough.

    No problem here

    1. No unlimited in offers. So, no "unlimited disk space". If you offer unlimited/unmetered bandwidth, specify the limiting factor (mostly port speed) and whether it's shared or not. Unlimited features (like mailboxes or subdomains) is allowed.

Kind of debatable. There is no clear mention, if the port speed is shared, but there is a clear statement of 100 Mpbs guaranteed... Assuming that, the 1 Gbps is likely to be shared, as the following "100 Mbps guaranteed" implicits exactly this in my eyes

    1. Be informative in your offers. List basic specifications (memory, storage, bandwidth, port speed, virtualisation method) and pricing on a per-plan basis. Data centre location and a test IP would be ideal.

Aside from a missing "KVM" mention (I haven't seen one), everything's good. Although the mentioned "Windows licenses" excludes some virtualization types (such as OVZ/LXC/LXD, as far as I know). I see no problem here

    1. List total price per billing period, not just equivalent monthly cost

    Has been done.

I am going to ignore other rules as I think most of them don't apply (except Misc, but I didn't check that)

So, instead of sh*tposting, how about improving the quality of LET posts (yours and those of some providers)? Rules exist for a reason, and there is no problem stating mistakes. If you think someone broke the rules you can easily report/flag a post, as this is one of the intended use cases imo. But if you instead prefer to blame without (strong indications of) helpful intentions, expect to be blamed too. There are hundreds of ways to indicate errors and you chose (repeatedly) a toxic, unhelpful and non-friendly way to reveal them. I won't understand why

  • VPS rules

    1. Only post offers that are under $7/month or equivalent recurring.

I don't personally care if an offers over, but that's the answer.

@larmarat Ah, thank you. I missed this one too
But instead of "other ways" I prefer yours over those. Then again, it could be so easy.

    Thanked by 1larmarat
  • So you started breaking down the rules 1 by 1, and still missed one.

And thanks for letting him know about the issues, now he will definitely NOT read the rules. Thanks for understanding my comment...

  • @SCAM_DONT_BUY
Yes, I did. And it's a perfect example that human error is still possible, even if in this case. And providers are humans too, obviously.

What I dislike about your "help" is the toxic component. From what I know getwebhosting/powerfulbox seems like a smaller company to me (something like gullohosting or inception hosting). And with such unfriendly comments, I fear that some hosts will quit. Like Anthony, with the forum split, it happened already.

Funny if you believe anyone won't read the rules again if an error is mentioned... I even rechecked, when @larmarat mentioned the glorious 7$ rule, which is one of the most known rules/running gags on LET

    debian thx

  • @Pilzbaum said: And with such unfriendly comments, I fear that some hosts will quit.

Providers MUST read the rules before posting an offer. If anyone doesn't like this feel free to quit right away. This applies to ANY forum.

I wanted THEM to go ahead, and read the rules (possibly again). It's that simple.

    No one was hurt.

@Pilzbaum said: What I dislike about your "help" is the toxic component.

It's something extra you have to deal with, however, in this case, there wasn't any.

  • @SCAM_DONT_BUY Yes they must do that, but the tone and language is still no qualitative way to demonstrate their error. If taken the "Community Rules" for granted,

    don't be dick

applies to your comments as well. From what I've read you do understand the toxic components in your comments (maybe not in these ones) as well, as

@SCAM_DONT_BUY said: It's something extra you have to deal with, however, in this case, there wasn't any.

Then, again, does it really need to be this complicated, annoying and exhausting to mention a 7$ rule in this thread or the 84$ rule in the Psychz thread?

For the next time, use the somewhat more official way and report posts. This leaves out your extras and let's a moderator/admin decide what a good solution for this specific situation is, if you really want to embrace rules

  • @Pilzbaum said: For the next time, use the somewhat more official way and report posts. This leaves out your extras and let's a moderator/admin decide what a good solution for this specific situation is, if you really want to embrace rules

Okay, let me explain what's going on then.

    1. "The don't be a dick rule"

Ever since RackNerd owns this forum nobody cares about the rules. Even using/distributing nulled WHMCS is allowed and welcomed.

No, you made everything a lot harder by commenting here. I wanted them to read the rules, you came here and started making a drama about it. In the end, they don't even have to read the rules now, all thanks to you.

  • Signed up for a VPS FL special, still waiting for it to be setup, I thought it was automatic, but it's not. For someone wanting to signup I just wanted to let you know :)

  • I've ordered the VPS around ~12h ago and didn't heard anything from the company yet, did this happen to anyone else?

  • @efegue It could be that the automatic provisioning failed (happened to me too once, but I waited much less than 12 hours). If I were you I would wait until tomorrow morning for this issue to be resolved

Really sorry about the delay in the setup of your VPS, I have emailed the explanation in your support ticket.

Also to the rest of you, I apologise my little copy and paste job failed normally delete the bottom packages I make sure it does not happen again. I agree if this was done years ago I would of got warning, however looking at a very few other providers here my rule breaking in error is small fry.

I didn't want to give it a flood here, but since you started cursing others with idiots, I'll end up putting it here.

Provider who loses complete all client's data (because the backups are probably imaginary) and then come up with any ridiculous excuse (as "he does backups on the same HDD/node, so they are also lost.."), the disks are probably also used in SPAN mode instead of RAID1 (significantly more profit and explanation of miracle prices - 100GB NVMe for 4.99 monthly), does not worry about the fact that the client may be harmed by his unreliability - when he's offline or just asleep, wait a few hours for him to wake up and find out there's a problem - because he work as one person, one man hosting alone, or does not respond to the ticket for several days, "Instant Deployment" but users report that wait for delivery several hours, anti-DDos in all location but mainsite down several hours because "DDos attacked" (in OVH where is aDDos one of the best and good working) etc ...

Is good for what use? IDLING?? or playing and learning how VPS work?

Because I can't imagine doing anything serious or giving some clients there - a good way to lose them, unthinkable risk.

So explain it, you one heavy "INTELLIGENT", what makes this unreliable provider acting as one man a great provider?? Cheap prices only? I assume you have ties to him.. (but you promote him in a very blunt and transparent way)

    Failure of Node07
Node07 (the new UK node) today failed while taking backups, the local storage filled up freezing all services on the node. This is not supposed to happen and backups are supposed to be deleted after the file have been uploaded.

After accessing rescue mode and removing backups the node would not come back online, therefore all data and backups on it was lost. The node is now back online and running with new NVMe drives (after a protest from me) however no data has managed to be recovered.

Only users of Node07 has been affected by this and this is the first and hopefully the last we will lose data like this on this scale again.

Just emailing you to explain about why Powerful Box was inaccessible for around 5 hours yesterday night. Unfortunately, our website was attacked yesterday night as I was sleeping and as a precaution our datacentre activated their Anti Hack system and blocked our websites IP address taking it offline, action has been taken to prevent this from happening again. Also please be assured no data or access was breached in this attack.

Don't know anyone personally on these forums and thanks for the feedback.

To be honest am sick of people banging on about one man shows, when they are happy to pay one man prices. How can I offer VPS for £11 a year and then give someone a minimum wage of £8.71 to support you. Also a lot of your statements not true storage is not over sold its LVM so I can't for starters, maybe your the one with friends.

I am sorry about the sleep.

To be honest am sick of people banging on about one man shows, when they are happy to pay one man prices.

Thank you for your answer, to the point. Firstly, i must say you react professionally and calm - that's a plus for you.

I do not deny that you work also much and hard (do hosting is hard job..)

Unfortunately, and with all due respect, things sometimes run "over your head" and
you cannot provide uptime and fast response in the event of a problem/outages within 24 hours, as top providers can, for this reason you are unusable or minimally not a good/risky choice for any production use (where your clients may lose more money due to such failures and long response times to them and/or very fast lose their hard long time gained clients)

How can I offer VPS for £11 a year and then give someone a minimum wage of £8.71 to support you.

Your offers (price and parameters) are also advantageous (mainly Ryzens, when all work well) But: If you look in the offers, you will also find similarly cheap annual services, which, however, ensure really high stability 24/7/365 (one example for all: HostUS Ryzen $ 20 yearly will break the performance of your cheapest lowend of the same price category for shards (if any one doubts, i can post and compare their benchs..), but at the same time they are able to ensure excellent stability 24/7 - that's what makes them a real TOP provider). So it is possible - offer great stability at the same cheap prices levels as yours are.

I am sorry about the sleep.

Everyone needs to sleep without doubt, but if you are not willing to interrupt sleep when there is a problem, you should consider someone to watch while you sleep, Even for the price that you have to increase your prices a bit IMO.
