Best bangwidth for buck server in Japan?

Howdy everyone,

I am looking for a server in Japan, with the most bandwidth possible for around $2 a month. I may increase my budget a bit, but I am still looking to keep this on the budget side. Other then a dedicated IP, the specs do not matter, my usage will be extremely low. Major bonus points for one with unmetered bandwidth, although I'm not expecting to get that lucky.

    dedicated IP with unmetered bandwidth.
The top page is in Japanese, but sign-up page and control panel is also available in English.

  • For Japan Try kagoya.com/ or look for South Korea alternative

    Is 2D ok?

South Korea is generally significantly more expensive than Japan for bandwidth in my experience.

A price per mbps or TB would probably be good and determine who you are going to get for transit.

Lol I was actually looking for alternatives on Japan thanks to South Korea’s extremely expensive BW :(

  • I don't think any known provider does for $2/month, apart from Oracle Cloud Free Tier.

It's not unmetered. Their guideline says that they might restrict the service provided if you exceed 20GB transfer/day/GB of memory of the plan. See: https://web.arena.ne.jp/indigo/spec/guide.html

EDIT: Just read this guy's post history. Such a legend. Thanks for bringing us joy :)

But I know Japan has recently terrible connection with Europe ? Can any body verify if you have a server in Japan?

  • By the way if you buy Japan servers do not buy from Chinese resellers, Nothing against Chinese people but Chinese resellers should be avoided at any cost . Buy directly from Japanese providers.

    108.61.201.151 Vultr Japan's IP..... a tracert maybe...?

https://www.tsukaeru.net/en/cloud-vps I tried it long back, the network was stable.

Though whenever I need JP based VPS, I spin up a VPS from Vultr (aff link - get $100 credit) but the latency is not good to other JP networks.

tsukaeru.net should be better than a Chinese reselling site . They will oversell and in a long run you will get into trouble

  • Vultr seems good from all of these options, however it doesn't seem they cut off the bandwidth at the limit, and instead charge you overages. This isn't something I am wanting, I would want a set limit and not have to worry about overcharges.

I am also looking through all of the other websites now. Thank you everyone for the suggestions!

Most bang for buck in Japan would probably be marriage, but you have to make sure you're both on the same page, you can't just expect it.

They have this feature https://prnt.sc/ubpm6w of stopping the VM on bandwidth usage, though I haven't tested it out.

That may actually work, didn't know about that. Thanks for sharing!

  • Based on what I've read in other recent threads, I've been told @PHDan is the expert for bangwidth, so perhaps he can contribute a bit.

Personally I'm a fan of variety and don't try to limit myself to only one category or website.

I'm not too experienced in that region but based on what little I know, shouldn't it be called "bangtight" rather than bandwidth? Just asking.
