Copy data - 2 Windows Laptop
Title says... what's best way to copy data from one laptop to another? Both are on same wifi network. Is there any way to directly connect one laptop to another to transfer? I do not have an external hdd for now... or a pen drive... any suggestions welcome.
Tia.

If you are comfortable with opening up one of your laptops,
Get one of thess
Assuming windows : https://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/clone-resource/clone-hard-drive.htm
If you just want to simply sync files, google drives/drop box or something similar helps
You can try https://syncthing.net/
Something less invasive
Without opening computer... just copy over lots of photos.. 150gb+
Will this work fast over wifi?
Usually it's faster than copy via an external HDD
If just a file based sync:
Windows File-Sharing + robocopy {closest built in thing there is to rsync} -- using the "/mir" argument very carefully, each time that you want to re-sync the files across {one way}.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/robocopy
it may be a good idea to not use /mir on the first time transfering, since /mir can delete files if the syntax is wrong
use /mt and increase the default of '8' threads, since images are usually pretty small. {to get higher transfer speed}
robocopy and xcopy can preserve the timestamps and other potentially important details on those images.
Will try. Thanks
Wow. This looks interesting. Will check
Definitely not if both laptops are wireless and not wired.
I only use wireless. Syncthing always faster, especially if you have a lot of small files
If two laptops have ethernet connectors, you can make a crossover cable to create a fast network without a router.
What's wrong with windows file sharing?
No internet required for file transfers
just share folders and copy from one to another ... Home network
or Shareit for PC... File transfers within the network... (Got to check if PC to PC can be done)
^^^^ this
And connect both computers via LAN to get good speeds.
