I don't think it's possible.
In openvz, your kernal is fake.
If your provider is still on Openvz 6, I would recommend contacting them to upgrade to Openvz 7 as 6 is EOL.
Well, not sure if it's a good idea, but I guess you can theoretically do so by using UML.
No , not possible
KVM is OK
what do you want to do exactly ?
If you want to optimize your kernel or use latest one, it is best to move to KVM.
You can't do it yourself it can only be done on the host side, try opening a ticket with them to see what they can do. Out of curiosity which provider are you using?
Hello, That VPS is with FlipperHost.
Hello,
I use my vps for websites hosting... I just want to be up-to-date.
"Flipperhost are delivering an outstanding OpenVZ VPS Budget VPS"
Is it possible with UML? Would love to read more about it
don't care about the version of kernel so much, the latest one is not sure the best one, you need a stable one, this is the most important thing
for up to date stick to reputable provider with openvz 7 but better if its kvm.
Can I set up BBR on OpenVZ 7? I
No.
That's legacy OpenVZ 6; the kernel is missing a lot of newer functionality. See if the host can move you to an OpenVZ 7 node instead. KVM is a lot better though, as you can use a newer kernel (OpenVZ 7 is just a 3.10 series kernel, which is also EOL'd upstream).
It's not possible on openvz your kernel is shared you can't get it updated.
No you can't able to update the Kernel for each OpenVZ VPS.
