Why do you need a trial? They are already offering hourly pricing. Spin up a server, check the performance and terminate it.

Just to clarify a VPS is a standalone machine and is prepaid on a monthly basis, on the other hand Public cloud instances are available on a Pay-as you-go model (hourly or also monthly). Pubic cloud instances offer more flexibility, scalability, have private network, guaranteed resources, etc..
We do offer free trial on our public cloud ecosystem if interested, if you are in asia-pacific you can request one here: https://www.ovh.com/asia/get-your-free-trial.xml#request-voucher. Otherwise simply visit https://www.ovhcloud.com to be directed to the right ovh website and select Public cloud in the top menu.

We are showing the instructions of Haswell but yes Intel XEON next-generation 2.2Ghz min (not AMD).
    Thanks

Yay. Decode this to an Intel product URL for us, benchmark gurus @eva2000 @willie @zerpy?

  • Possibly Silver 4214 considering they offer it on their Dedicated anyway? Would make sense.

previously posted in this thread my guestimate

I noticed in other OVH VPS thread folks reporting 2.4Ghz versions. So if frequency is at least accurate, I am guessing these could be dual Intel Xeon Silver 4214/4214Y Scalable Cascade Lakes ? Just guessing if OVH VPS literature is accurate in that they're latest/next gen processors

  • @OVH_APAC - do you support reverse DNS for the APAC VPSs for both IPv4 and IPv6?

The US VPS don't seem support reverse DNS at all.

  • nullnothere said: do you support reverse DNS for the APAC VPSs for both IPv4 and IPv6?

yup i see it in my Sydney Essential VPS dashboard

Beware though - it may not work. The setting (to set the reverse) exists in the US panel but it just wont work (surprisingly even IPv4 reverse is not supported - usually most providers support at least IPv4 by default).

Can you double check that it actually works (if it's not a bother of course)?

  • Yeah it doesn't work

Thanks and aargh to say the least.

I remember that their previous VPS offer in the APAC region (the originally non-recurring deal with the 3GHz CPUs) had reverse DNS support but alas the offer was non recurring.

I think now after they've consolidated/migrated to their new (OpenStack?) offering they no longer support reverse DNS at all.

@OVH_APAC - can you clarify if there are any plans to support reverse DNS (both IPv4 and IPv6 please) and also if you will at all offer a /64 IPv6 instead of the current /128?

  • VPS SSD 2018 (the one advertised at lowendbox) does work. It's $0.15 cheaper, but lower I/O score.

Friend already test the "Elite" one.
It can push Outbound to 1.8Gbps (Great),
But when test Inbound (IPerf) it's so slow and realize IP is under Mitigate (Email said IP under attack).

Is there anyway to disable the "Mitigation: Permanent Mode" ??
it'll be useless if had great outbound but when inbound above 1Gbps it'll under mitigate mode.

    Hi @nullnothere and all,
You may access reverse dns setting from the IP tab in the left menu. if the functionality does not work as expected then i suggest to create a ticket and PM me the ticket so i can share it with the product team.
Regarding IPv6, I confirm only a /128 at this stage with VPS (also mentionned here: https://www.ovhcloud.com/asia/vps/compare/) but I will provide your feedback for a /64.
For information, dedicated servers do come with a /64 block of IPv6.

It should work using the APIs, but indeed there seems to be an issue with the control panel (issue has been reported), sorry about that.

    Using our API
-Head to the OVH API: https://ca.api.ovh.com/.
-Click on “Explore the OVH API”.
-Connect to the API using the same credentials as for the OVH Manager.
    -Open the following link:
    https://ca.api.ovh.com/console/#/ip/{ip}/reverse#POST
-For ip, enter the IP in the below format
    X.X.X.X/32 (example 123.123.123.123/32)
-For ipReverse, enter the IP in the below format
    X.X.X.X (example 123.123.123.123)
    -For reverse, enter your domain
    -Press execute

hopefully can help dns error reverse in ovh panel

Yup - works for both IPv4 and IPv6. Thank you for the pointer (and of course I'm wondering why I was so naive to think there wouldn't be API support if the UI didn't work).
