  • I hope it's new DC in SG 😅

I think these speeds (for VPS SSD M) are fine tbh:

    Disk Speed
    I/O (1st run) : 283 MB/s
    I/O (2nd run) : 350 MB/s
    I/O (3rd run) : 357 MB/s
    Average I/O : 330 MB/s

Contabo launched US location at basically the same pricing!

    https://blog.contabo.com/company/contabo-introduces-new-data-center-location-in-the-united-states/

    Aside from the “location fee”

    Great Prices
We keep the same base price for all our services in both EU and US locations. At the same time, we are introducing a Location Fee for our US location as the operating costs in the US (including electricity, cooling and data center floor) are higher. The Location Fee depends on the service you order:

    VPS S SSD: +1 EUR / month
    VPS M SSD: +2 EUR / month
    VPS L SSD: +3 EUR / month
VPS XL SSD: +6 EUR / month
    Dedicated Server 10-core: +20 EUR / month
For example, the price for VPS S SSD in US Location is 4.99 EUR + 1 EUR Location Fee, which is roughly 6.55 USD per month for 4 cores, 8 GB RAM, and 200 GB SSD disk space.

Doesn’t seem to be live yet but apparently current customers can transfer from EU.

Fair enough. Still great pricing for US :)

According to facebook, they have a new location in St.Louis now.

(also when looking at their website, they seemingly stopped offering colo)

That's the default you have to request it to have the 300 from the bench.

That's their artifical abuse limit in place. Just call or open a ticket and it will be lifted :)

I am sure @contabo_m can confirm this :)

Tbh providing Colo is probably more trouble than it's worth. Especially in times like these.

  • Any test ip for the new location?

Yes and no. For most contracts around here, yes.

There are some very lucrative colo contracts out there with business clients.

But they didn't hide it before their announcement. Some may have noticed their preparations in the ARIN database.

  • Fyi for those wanting migrations they won't start until May. So if you want the new location you have to order a new server.

Their SSD series. They state which processors they're using. Usually newer ones.

What is up with all of the german providers only serving st louis? It's so out of the way, is there some special thing there? server4you, velia, hosteurope, serverloft?

Also, 20Gbps total when they are selling 1G unmetered on a VPS seems a bit contended

oh wow. totally did not realise that velia was also HEG now. I am still surprised though that it was a location in the first place - I just don't see anything hosted there in general, so it was odd that another german provider would pick it.

i think 1&1 (german company) is nearby in lenexa?

  • Awesome, preparing to backup 😁
