VPS for games in EU
Hello LET,
would appreciate any help in finding a server. It will be mostly used for hosting one game server at a time, for a small group of people (expect around 4-5). Also possibly for a discord bot. Hope my needs are possible for the budget.
VZ Type:
KVM preferred (any that can use remote desktop and windows and linux really)
Number of Cores:
2 with like 3.3+GHz each, benchmark score of 2000+ (mostly need a great single core performance)
RAM:
8gb
Disk Space:
Around 25GB needed at least
Disk Type:
SSD preferred
Bandwidth:
2TB or more
Port Speed:
100mbit, even better if higher
DDoS Protection:
Always nice but unlikely we will get DDoSed
Number of IPs:
Single ipv4
Location:
Good location in EU. Something like FR, DE, NL UK....
Budget:
Around 8.5$/month or 8€. If really not possible, maybe a bit higher.
Billing period:
Monthly
Thanks in advance for your help!

The pre-payment is for first 3 months , and it worth it you cant find this specs anywhere else and their awesome servers, I have 3 vps there.
Saw this one before when I searched around, do you maybe have experience with them?
They both seem interesting, the CPUs only have like 2.3Ghz though, I saw they have turbo boost which goes much higher, but don't really have any experience with that, is the extra speed always available?
Would consider the php friends one, but a yearly payment is a bit much for me to handle right now, or did I misunderstand something? The cheapest I can find is 11.90?
Thanks for the help so far by the way! o/
Also does anyone have any experience with those? The vCloud Gold seems to be too good to be true (processor-wise at least), though I can't really find much information about cloud VPS.

Hey,
The Evolution Host Game VPS is a virtual server specially crafted for hosting game servers.
While it's slightly outside the price range you've specified, it offers a tonne more features and higher clock rates than you mentioned.
Hi,
I was looking into the same stuff recently and I tested the following:
server.unesty.net
https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15347706
This was a "cloud" instance. You can create as many servers as you want. You pay for the resources monthly. Support is very nice, network could be better.
Pricing scales with RAM, so 4c/4G is the same Price as 8c/4G.
Support is very helpful and fast.

Xeon: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15347811
Ryzen: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15347946
I/O seems better on the Xeon side.
Also a cloud instance but you'll pay hourly. There's 20% VAT you have to add to all the prices yourself as it is charged when you top up your account.
Support is also very nice! The panel is pretty slick and easy to use. Bonus: archlinux instances by default

Hetzner
Well, yeah.
https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15361913
Running a minecraft instance there atm. (MC Eternal)
Netcup
Also well known. I am using the cloud instances (VPS 1000)
https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15361982
Also running a minecraft instance there. (MC Eternal)
I am using this one:

Some vouchers (Aff) for the RS 1000 (SSD). I can generate more for SAS too if you want, just send a message.
30% discount, single use: 2202nc15857398331
=> 6.29€ But: will increase contract to 1 Year
I've heard of them and seen some good vouches for them, but unfortunately, I have no personal experience with their hosting.
Thanks for the offers, but that one would be completely out of my budget. As I would need around 6-8GB RAM.
Slightly is a bit of an understatement here, the RAM would be way too low. 6GB RAM is 40€ already.
What is your verdict on Cloud Servers? Yay or nay? Where the resources generally available or dedicated?
Those unesty and virtua.host benchmarks look nice, but those two are sadly out of my budget.
Hetzner and Netcup seem to run one of those typical lower Xeon's, as the benchmark number on that site is a good deal higher than on cpubenchmark.net, though I don't know which one is more reliable.
I see, sadly I just saw the server is out of stock at the moment too, so it might not be a choice.
Hi,
The benchmarks are actual benchmarks I did myself today and yesterday.
The unetsy cloud: Yay, but also maybe exceeding your budget (mine also). For 8Gb you will be charged ~ 20€. ~ 1G RAM/1.8€ + 3€ base + some money for disk.
I'm basically looking for the same specs as you do. I prefer having a "well known" provider and I don't need the game server running all the time that's why I'm sticking with Hetzner now and Netcup for now.
I can make a Snapshot, delete the instance and basically have no more costs (0.01€/GB/Month). Spinning it up will take ~5 minutes depending on the size and could be automated (not there yet, reading https://docs.hetzner.cloud/ just now).
So I only pay when I need it (evening, weekends, quarantaine-time, <100h/Month, so ~ 10% of the monthly price).
This is perfect for my usecase, I don't know if that applies to yours as well.
Oh your benchmarks are fine, I just wanted to say that the processors themselves might not be good enough for me. I will just take modded Terraria as an example, it only runs on a single thread and therefore I need something strong that can handle it all...
The cloud sounds actually quite good. I mean I will maybe have the server running like half of the day or like 16 hours at most (aka when everyone is awake), the rest of the time it would just idle around, if I turned the server off during that time, I could cut down a good bit on the cost. But without being able to automate it, it would be a bit tedious to do every day, and I would honestly be worried that I might forget to take a snapshot first and then lose all the data of the day.
Hey changed the prices for some reason but they have a special server now for 6.50€/m check on the bottom of the page , i currently have 3 servers with them , and the payment its first for 3 months not yearly.
Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 / v4

Do you have any benchmarks with modernizmir.net? I appologize as this does not pertain to the OP's question, but I'm thinking of purchasing a server from them and I'm not sure of how they perform.
i dont have servers with modernizmir sir.
