VPS for gaming server
Hey, I am looking for a VPS with 2-4 cores and 2-4 GB of RAM (the most important are cores). I would like to put the Arma 3 game server on it and play there with a friend (only 2 people in total). I currently have a VPS at some cheap provider. Unfortunately, it will not meet my expectations:

I am thinking of buying VPS at contabo.com. That's exactly what I mean about VPS S SSD. I found a link to Geekbench somewhere on LET: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/11012991
Can somebody give me a current benchmark?
If anyone has suggestions for other servers at a similar price, please provide.
Yes, I know that VPS is a bad solution, I have servers but I don't want to put this game server on them. I want something for a month or two. That is why dedicated servers with installation fee fall off. In the worst case scenario, I'll just do a tunnel to hide my servers' IP.
It is also best to have something in the EU but if there are no bad pings to the US, it can be too.
It is best to also have an SSD >=50 GB.
Thanks

Congrats on your first post

@MikeA ExtraVM is well reputed for Game Server hosting
Hi maybe you will be interested We have launched SSD Nodes in EU and USA optimized and ddos protected for game servers task https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15330550 if you allow making an offer in this thread, then we can make proposed offers with free trial tests for you
Hey, it doesn't work this way!
Of course I allow. The LET-special offer looks cool. Is it a price including tax? Would it be possible to increase to 3gb ram and 50gb disk?
please check this offer https://dc.dignusdata.center/cart.php?a=add&pid=83
yes we can build any special custom package for you
Arma 3 servers can be quite CPU heavy. Make sure you read terms/acceptable use so you don't get kicked out.
My guess is your going to have an issue in a shared environment due to cpu usage. You need a vps that focuses on high cpu usage or dedicated cores. Anyone have any recommendations?
I think you are better off getting a dedicated server if you want guaranteed performance. Last time I hosted Arma was many years ago, but that was like the most inefficient game server software I've ever seen. Most who sell dedicated CPU VPS don't give you real dedicated CPU or it's an older CPU. Giving multiple dedicated cores cost money, so using cheap older CPUs is the only profitable option for lower price. You can get sub-$80 i7 dedicated servers in places.
I also had a server last time in 2013. Now I put on this vps what I gave above and it even works. The only problem I have is that I only have 30gb. And as you know with mods, an Arma can take up to 100gb.
And only two people will play on it.
My current VPS: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15330171
My current service provider is overselling servers. If he didn't do it, I probably wouldn't look for anything else.
I now have about 50% CPU occupancy.
If it's only for two people and you only want it for a month or two why not just host on your PC? A VPS with these specs, 2-4 dedicated cores, 100GB+ disk space is not cheap.
Because I don't want to use different tunneling like a hamachi.
@AMike, we are not allowed to make sense.
Maybe the current PHP-Friends Limited Spring Special fits your needs?
2 dedicated Xeon Cores
10 GB DDR4 ECC RAM
80 GB SSD
only 6.50 EUR/month (on a 3 month contract)
https://php-friends.de/vserver-ssd/vserver-fruehlingsspecial-2020-ssd
Do you have any comparison with contabo?
Nope.
But at least PHP-Friends have some quite good reputation on LET/LES.
And they offer dedicated CPU cores (what I couldn't find about Contabo) which might be quite important for you.
Why you don't take DignusData offer?
Oooof ... I would just say be sure to check reviews and do your homework carefully.
Lulz ...
I watched it yesterday 😂

PHP-Friends offer is probably the best. I wrote to them but unfortunately there is no possibility of monthly settlement, It is only possible every 3 months.
If used only for 1-2 months, you can take advantage of the trial program of vultr
If you don't need a large amount of bandwidth, your best bet at a low price is probably FastVM, but you will not receive any dedicated cores and you will be limited to 5TB bandwidth.
Why should we buy at extravm when they only reseller the ovh servers ?

No thanks , you cant compare OVH with their re-sellers they must sell cheaper then OVH not x4 more expensive.
Hmm, I will post this just for anyone in the future who sees and wonders the same.
1.) I only use Ryzen 3800X CPUs now there. Compare it to a 2GHz Xeon and see what wins.
2.) I only use NVMe, compare it to whatever you want.
3.) If there are issues that cause disruption be sure I will be checking it as soon as something happens and will reply within a few minutes and not 2 days.
4.) If you need more bandwidth I will gladly give it for free and not limit you to 10Mbps as long as it's a legitimate purpose and not VPN/torrenting.
5.) Access to manage network firewalls just like you would normally.
6.) Older hardware is decommissioned every 2-3 years. Clients have always been moved to the newest hardware when possible (sometimes with 100% bench increase) with no increase to price and sometimes price is lowered.
Now obviously, comparing something that's normally $48 to something that's $14 is silly. If support and CPU performance doesn't matter much always go for the cheaper option.
I only use OVH services in OVH locations, as people like the DDoS protection but don't want to buy a whole dedicated server or want something that their normal VPS plans/service don't offer. If you want something that isn't "resold OVH" everything in Dallas is my own hardware but it doesn't matter because in the end you're being "resold the network", and you could say the same about a company using a carrier like Telia and saying they "resell Telia".
Take a look at Scaleway!
So what that are you using Ryzen OVH also offers Ryzen and its more cheaper
Processor: Intel i7-6700K - 4 c / 8 t - 4 GHz / 4.2 GHz
Memory: 32GB
Disk: 2×480GB SSD SATA + 1×4TB HDD SATA
€85/m
Your price $189 wtf ? Are you a reseller ?
And yes all of you buy and reseller at OVH because of ddos protection because a game server cant start working without ddos protection so there is no other choice right now except OVH so you are a reseller from OVH.
I have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.
