Server Bidding

Is server bidding still a thing?
Perhaps there is some sort of ebay for server hosting available?
In these difficult times, might be a good way for providers to flog their excess capacity.
Might be an interesting way for buyers to get great deals while helping providers recoup some of their investment and running costs.

Hetzner obviously (still) does it, win-win.
Why should someone cancle their server because of corona crisis? I expect it to be exactly the other way, because there is now greater demand for online services.
Well i7 pricing on Hetzner recently dropped below 25€.
It speaks something else.
Most of our customers are small businesses. They see a drop in business and they scale back.
So we are seeing a drop in corporate business but an increase in cheap VPS from individuals.
So there's truth in what you say, but it's only a small part of the market.
I did. I suffer a drop in business and needed to cut some servers.
An unfortunately common occurrence in these times.
Most hosting services are mainly supportive of their offline businesses, and so a slowdown in offline business will reduce demand for the supportive services run online.
Not everyone is running a Netflix like business.
You guys are totally right, I thought about the demand for video conferences, mail & file exchange, it support etc.
@enricodias all the best for you and your business.
