Is there any minimum port speed guarantee, or automatic restrictions on the high-load user?

Because selling at this price, you will have to oversell to stay profitable, which usually means that the port speeds marked are just a bubble

223.204.250.204 is not pingable for me from any location I tried. If you want to see the approximate route, try the "mtr" option. Or just ping their test IP from your PC.

You just said you guarantee and then that you don’t.
Unless you have some special arrangement for QoS in place you can’t guarantee it beyond your router, or more likely your hypervisor. You can’t even guarantee it to the Internet itself because RED can drop you right at the first router of your Tier 1 before it even make it past their FPC.

Example in practise would be a saturated connection between say you and say OVH could result in say only 50 Mbps if transmission speed, how would your 200Mbps guarantee stack up then ? It left your network at 200Mbps but didn’t reach the destination. You can’t do anything because you don’t control all the way to the destination and hence you cannot guarantee it.

Hence why I say this statement is misleading.

No. This is legit and he made his case. This should even fall under common sense, so you're coming across as butthurt just to hit at Clouvider.

The word "guaranteed" has no place here and is misleading. It's just the exact same thing as without the word, a network connection speed in the datacenter with same potential congestion as any other provider. They're counting on no more than 50 users using 200Mbps at a given time (which has to be silly for any network of decent size, no?). There's also no mentioned penalty if they can't guarantee it, so it's not something they truly understand what they are talking about. And he says 200Mbps minimum, so they'd need some bandwidth shaping to ensure when bandwidth is scarce, no one gets all the bandwidth and gets a fair sharing algorithm applied so people get the guaranteed minimum 200Mbps.

When they say an ISDN line is 128Kbps guaranteed, that's the truth. This, what the provider is "guaranteeing", is not the truth.

Fair call Timbo, and you're right that I wanted to get a few hits landed on clouvider and used this as the opportunity. To be honest I didn't read it, just saw dom attacking another provider again and I regretfully fired off without checking first if what he was saying was even valid.

TimboJones said: When they say an ISDN line is 128Kbps guaranteed, that's the truth.

Back when I used China Mobile, the speed to many providers' network was less than 128kbit/s, and for most of the day it's worse than 56kbit/s (FFS, I was on a 10Mbit/s FTTH line, and GFW had nothing to do with it). Just saying that guaranteeing a speed to any network is not that easy.
