Is there a Debian, Fedora or Ubuntu graphical desktop optimized for usage in the cloud?
Is there a Debian, Fedora or Ubuntu graphical desktop optimized for usage in the cloud?
The standard desktop installations install all kinds of things which are of no relevance like bluetooth, wireless, scanner drivers, sound and a whole load of other useless stuff. Essentially a system that its stripped of drivers and utilities used by physical devices.
Are there some distributions or install profiles which exclude things like these?
It will also be good if they contain some of the stuff required by an administrator or a developer.

Install ubuntu-server or debian-minimal
It has to be a graphics, desktop installation
apt-get install lubuntu-desktop
Doesn't use more than 128MB RAM.
In the what again?
Or maybe you just mean on a f**king VPS?
Well, it applies on everything, a full desktop install will try to sneak in BT and laptop and god knows what else which will never be used. You can select to install only the core though, then add whatever you need. I must admit that in doing the Ubuntu template for the desktop for our cloud i put the KDE full that includes all that junk. Will do better next time
