    can confirm...

so sad that there is no love for existing customers :(

was just thinking about using the cloud platform more... but I'll choose someone else then, because as a new customer at another place I might get some credits for free.

    Definitely.

It sucks to only provide these to new customers. We don't spend much there (120€ per month) but that is worth more than giving out free credit alas DO in hopes to gain traction for new clients. I wonder what the conversion rate is.

    TLDR;

    It sucks for existing clients.

  • First time I try a hight-end class provider. Very impressive.

  • if only i can use it for dedis :(

  • In the past, old customers were also able to get the redeem code....
Now only available to new customers, a bit frustrated.
    Anyway, thanks for sharing :)

I will try to track down an answer to this, but my instinct is to say "no".

This €10 credit was meant to attract new customers. Unfortunately, there are still quite a lot of people who have never heard of Hetzner Cloud and who have never tried it out. In order for any company to stay competitive, it must attract new customers, which is why this kind of campaign is pretty common.
But I've read your comments and understand your stance, and I will discuss it with my colleagues.

  • I've signed up last night. Hetzner asks me to upload my ID for verification because my account is said as "risky signup".

Then I uploaded the scan of my passport.

Now this appears when I try to login to check the status of my verification:

    eWC.jpg

Just wondering whether my account is rejected, or it is still waiting for the verification.

    Any idea? @Hetzner_OL

I experienced such kind of verification in another provider, instead of disabling my account, they asked me to upload another ID or other proof of identifications.

I had a weird issue like this, first time i register i tried to verify my account with DNI and got disabled, from facebook i got replied to "try" re-do my order checking everything or go with a reseller.

So instead of verify with documents i used paypal, now been 4 months using hetzner dedicated servers and i'ts a great service. But i always have that fear of being asked some day for documents and getting my account disabled if who review documents doesn't like my dni.

Hey Hetzner, what's the name of your bouncer?

Even if it's a algorithm, you should name it.
Here at LEB, we would have a ball whenever someone gets bounced.
We could reference its name to the new user and he/she/whateverareyoucrazy would be rather confused by it (aren't we here to confuse new users?).

    Just like $7.

Using Hetzner Cloud for over a year now. Sounds like a discrimination of current customers. It would be great to get some credits for loyalty if possible.

Why not make it 10 euro for new customers, and 5 euro for existing ones? That way existing customers don't feel like they're under-valued.

Cost of new customer acquisition for Hetzner must be less than cost of customer retention. Or customer delight. Therefore the focus on new customers. It is a tough balance, new customer growth versus incremental growth with existing base. And frankly, how many of existing customers will leave for not getting a 10 euro credit?

Note: not an existing Hetzner customer, nor likely to be one directly after my very bad experience signing up. But I get what they are trying to do.

  • vyas11 said: And frankly, how many of existing customers will leave for not getting a 10 euro credit?

none. however, how many now trying competitors instead of using that opp to upgrade inline?

ask management boards or investors about the importance of steady recurring revenue vs pure one time growth numbers. marketing often doesn't see the whole picture.

    Very true!

  • a year ago (or more precisely around Christmastime 2018) I remember getting some account credits from both Hetzner and Lunanode. I used the "free money" to try out some larger instances that I almost certainly would not have otherwise.

@lowfatgeek - It is possible that your account was rejected. You can try to create an account again and make sure that everything is 100% correct. If there is anything in your information that you know may look a bit odd or unusual, write to our team when you make your order and give them an explanation for it. There are lots of possible factors that can contribute to an account looking suspicious. @falzo is right. Our team who confirms accounts is not in the office on the weekends, but they will be happy to help you on Monday.
@donko - We would not do this months after the fact. If your account is suspended at this point, it would be because of an issue like non-payment or abuse issues.
The truth is that we really do value our existing customers. We wouldn't be where we are now without you. So I'm sorry that you feel unappreciated. I'll personally be doing some brainstorming for ideas for how we can best show this in the future.
@teanacc @vyas11 @falzo @uptime - Thanks for the constructive criticism and suggestion. Again, I'll share this with the team. --Katie

It is not possible to create an account again since my email has been registered (but cannot use it because it has been disabled).

Yes, of course, I can create a new Gmail account and register with that new email, but that would be not genuine

Maybe I should skip this promo anyway

To the best of my knowledge, the credit is available to all new customers. There's no minimum purchase requirement that I know of. --Katie
