Bless you for that 'out of stock' update.
I've been struggling. 😅
There will be (maybe) a little restock in the next days as soon all orders have been delivered/cancelled/refunded
Yeah, a great deal, but good that it's out of stock
Got one too. Very prem. Did not expect a new high on VPS of the year.
Very prem indeed. Let's hope the VMs stay that snappy!
@avoro please put centos 7 netinstall ISO or preconfigure netboot.xyz network settings
I had one with their smallest plan (around this August iirc). I had some troubles the first time (VPS doesn't boot) but the support tended to it within a minute and fixed it. I used it for image processing for almost a month but then I moved to a more suitable service for it since I need more CPU cores and I don't really do 24/7 operation [hourly billing seems more fitting for this situation]... still it left me some impression: good plans and performance (according to my experience with the smallest plan) + friendly fast support.
Looks good. I am looking forward to their Los Angeles location launch.
@FrankZ Indeed! I literally am excited to the point that once I'm reminded, I don't feel like sleeping! I hope @Avoro is working speedily to get us the goods!
Your first VPS?
Haha @donli , nope, just need them for a project that I'm excited about but yup, feels like my first time!
@Avoro You mentioned testing with the LA location; I wonder, how soon is soon?
@Avoro Which DC for LA?
Lost the track of time, will surely wait for it. Thank you.
We are currently exploring various options and have several data centers (such as Quadranet) in our mind. However I can not give you exact informations at the moment
Also need anti-DDOS LA.
My vote on Avoro too.
When I bought VPS it was:
I just created ticket and support replied in 1 minute, fixed in 7 minutes (or even less). Thank you @Avoro.
It's ok now and looks like topic starter's info.
@govac8
You can enable PAE and PXE over control panel, then reboot VPS from control panel.
It's need for AES-NI and VM-x/AMD-V.
It's a good deal and still running (except extra 10 % discount) so you can grab it now
I don't know why not popular this offer.
2 dedicated CPU-Cores
6 GB DDR4 ECC RAM
30 GB SSD
10 Gbit/s shared
Very good deal for 3.5€/mo
Well for start, I really do not see use case where I will need 6GB RAM but only ~23-24 GB usable storage. I run couple high traffic websites that need 8-16GB RAM (might be OK with 6 too..), for Mysql mainly, but also require 120+ GB disk
Depends on personal circumstances, for me I can consolidate some of my backend containers. Like clamd, which takes 1-2GB RAM but almost no disk, and Redis cluster where the CPU on this VPS can handle tasks like thinning. For me I am quite happy with the specs. Now I'd like to get a cheaper (12€/yr) KVM front-end server in some close proximity like Frankfurt or Düsseldorf, unfortunately most of my front-ends are a little further away than I'd like.
Can you contact our support? SSD with 120 GB+ is possible but not for that (already cheap) price
such good offer if it really dedicated core, might consider this in the future.
take it now, it's a limited time offer so it can expire anytime
Dedicated "cores" are usually hardware threads these days. They run Xeon 6140 in dual CPU configuration, which means 36 cores or 72 threads in total. So legitmately they could fit 36 VMs on a node. Assuming they could claim VAT back selling this service, this gives just above 100 EUR a month. It needs to pay for colocating the hardware with at least 3A at 230V, and around 40 IPv4s if they don't own the IP space.
I did look up their German company registration and bought one under caution, but I remain a bit skeptical. While not idling, I run a moderate workload on the VPS, and this is about the average level of CPU steal:
Of course, at this price I would be quite happy with the contention level of 1 HT to 2 allocated threads.
I got one last night, thank you @Avoro
I can agree two things:
I leave it idle for a night but then things kinda slower. So I run a bench:
Cannot see any problem on the host node. There is no iowait, over 50 % CPU idle. A little bit steal is normal and even with dedicated Cores. Tested it now with a freshly installed (Debian 10) VPS:
RAID-Check is running plus backup time. It is all fine
I am running Ubuntu 18. It was show an error something like "failed to find php-fr*****@service..." at first boot.
CPU load is around 0.2-0.3 when idling. I'm not a tech savvy but I'm used to see load average of 0.00 0.00 0.00 when idling a VPS. I guess I should try another OS.
Please don't take this as a complain @Avoro, I'm still happy for the price
