Yeah I noticed this as well during testing before -- long and short is they utilize Voxility for DDOS protection and in doing so they chose to do their peering to Frankfurt instead of directly in The Netherlands, so you do end up doing something like Location -> Germany -> Netherlands for all incoming traffic, adding about 15ms to the trip. Actually, it was the combination of this and the very low amount of bandwidth provided on packages that turned me off from considering this. As I think you were trying to suggest, with the added latency, it just doesn't seem like it's worth it.

    my 2 cents.

    Cheers!

Yes correct, Voxility routed it trough Frankfurt which added latency especially when under attack. Also ip range 5.253.86.0/24 was under attack alot last few days and this is also range which Fayaz90 VPS is in

I just replied now as we were moving off from Voxility to Corero SmartWalls anyways as new DDoS Protection with 100Gbps anti-ddos together with our DC and this has been finished now

Latency is now 1/3 of what it has used to be with Vox. Worldwide better latency.

You might do a ping/tracert again

    It's resolved Thanks!

  • So @HostSlick got in touch with me through PM to inform me that they weren't too happy about routing via Voxility either. They've switched to a Corero SmartWall appliance for DDoS filtering. Which means routing (from NL at least) is now very direct. As you'd expect, the latency is much lower.

Posting a quick update with a big :star: to @Hostslick. There was a dip in the network performance probably due to the initial hiccups in new firewall configuration. I was getting pings as high as 320 ms from Bengaluru, and some scripts (nench, for e.g.) were not working. VPS performance was fine though. All sorted out within max. 24 -30 hours, as of now pings have improved, all well. Super pleased with the response and responsiveness.
