How do you create free tier VMs in 3 regions? Those are tied to the home region, have you found a way around that, or use 3 separate accounts?
definitely multiple accounts, while i'm still stuck being declined for 3 weeks without any response to my issue. I even willing to give them my ID, passport photo, my naked photo, call/video call me, anything they want. i have debit/credit cards, whatever cards they need. and their response is "we are still waiting for internal team investigation."
Correct. Three physical different accounts. I have never had a manual verification - they have all been instantiated in less than 5 minutes and usable. Is it possible you're outside the US or using a payment method outside the US?
Idiots with Oracle thought I was a scammer and did not activate the account.
At first I didn’t let me register because I indicated my standard mail.ru mail. Then I changed to yandex.ua, passed the registration, and they did not want to activate the account.

the same thing happened to me, I had to make another account with another ip and address and the account works without problems now

This morning oracle charges me 105 euros from my bankcard. My account was not activated. On such garbage services, I always indicate virtual cards so as not to fall for money in shitservices.
Don't worry it wont be charged/billed. Anyway, why don't you try with another email address like gmail or yahoo? Just make sure you don't use any adblock, or different geolocated IP address while registering.
For lifetime free VPS from Oracle, it worth the hassle.

They charged you 105 even though you haven't used their service yet?
Maybe just a temporary charge, but that's very high one!

It's a temporary charge. Was the same for me. Had not enough funds on card and successfully registered again with the new one.

No, a temp charge is 1EUR not 105EUR.
For me it was a 121.41 EUR temporary charge from "ORACLE IRELAND" and 1 EUR charge a few days later (even after account verification).

Did you deployed the largest server Oracle had?
This charge was a part of manual account verification.

For some of the locations offered (Japan, Korea, India, even Brazil!), these are nice for the bandwidth included, for VPN etc. But for general use the CPU is capped and way too slow. Even Atom N2800 in the 4 euro OVH KS1 server is faster, and by a lot.

Been playing with this. They're more powerful than GCP's free one. But haven't managed to get anything served over port 80. No idea why. Their network stuff is super confusing

Just had a look - and that is indeed the cause! Thanks.
...hmm...with that sorted this could be quite a decent setup for wordpress. Each box has a rather anemic upload on ~5mbps...so will probably try out their free 10mbps loaderbalancer.
The interface is an absolute nightmare. They are horribly understaffed right now. Someone from Oracle called me up to have a feedback, I told them I am having bigtime problems understanding simple things, she says put all your feedback in a mail and send... and bang, closed the call.

It's just new. Use it for a couple days and you'll figure everything out. Read this thread too as it has quite a lot if info on how to get started. I've seen pictures too!
I've installed a graphic environment, LXDE desktop + NX server on my VM but as soon as I launch a browser (FF/Chrome) it just hangs.. seems VM has no power to carry it
Can't figure out how to access the instance I created. the Public IP Address shows "Unavailable". Chat help was singularly unhelpful. Have I done something wrong or is their IP pool exhausted?

You need to assign an IP when creating the instance...its hidden under the show adv

Ah, found it, thanks. Crazy that it's so hidden. (It also says you can "easily" add it later, but I looked everywhere and didn't find a way to do that.)

For huge customers, sure. I get that. But that totally defeats the marketing purpose of the free offering. It's supposedly there to show you how easy and powerful it is. What it really does is show you how difficult and limited it is.

I selected "Assign a public IP address" when I created the instance.

Anyone use successfully any prepaid card?
There is any limitation for how many ip reserved that we can create?
50 public ips.

I am wondering why people still buying servers if they can get two free servers with 10TB free bandwidth?
This is why we can't have nice things.
Meanwhile in China, someone created 12 accounts, 1 region for each account so that he can get free servers for all regions.

Who will you blame when your multi-million-dollar-blog disappears along with the free servers?

I did some QA myself, for Google Inbox, its the same here, people doing free QA for Oracle, well not free, $0.50/month's worth for Oracle.

Yikes. I get that free is free, but this is the most convoluted system I've ever used.
What should be the most simple of tasks - opening a port - is a nightmare.
