Hostdoc Review - I didn't make a backup.
Hello,
@HostDoc
Surprisingly I have never written an Online review and HostDoc was the first company that forced my hand to right one. So congrats on that part to them!
Should you Buy Hosting from them? NEVER
Here is what happened :
- I purchased a cheap plan of hosting from them ($1.5) - Yea, Even i thought SUPER DEAL!
- I host my site , Get a blog developed. Content . All in all , Worth $200 .
- I go on a vacation -> I come back , Open my site , Its gone!
- I contact support , they tell me that the server crashed and data was deleted, Over that they explain to me that i should have purchased a more expensive hosting if i want to stay safe.
Ah , I guess. I did make a mistake ! I should i have known , after purchasing with hostdoc, Vacations are absolutely not possible! You must check your site daily and wish to god its still there.
P.s. They have no backup.
Note:
All of you who are reading good reviews about them around the web , Do know , Even i was one of the guys who thought they were decent.
Your site will work well , But just be willing to take the risk. They take zero responsibilities of their own servers and might crash anytime.
I suggest you go with BuyShared.net , They are amazing , And their customer support is even more good.
5 Stars to them
Thanks!
Hoping they dont con people no more.

Cheap = Make sure you do your own backups off the hosts system. Preferably on another continent.
I've said it before The Planet managed to bork some of my sites. Backups saved me then.
True bro, I learned that now. I had no ideas, Servers can crash and close anytime even though they take annual money.
Never happened with any other cheap host , i have been with many on here. If there server crashes, they migrate themselves and handle the tech.
Did they advertise RAID or backups on the service you purchased?
If not, then this is kinda your own fault.
Even if RAID on the drives, corruption and data loss can still happen.
If they did not advertise backups as available, then you cannot fault them for hardware failure and not being able to restore data.
If backups were advertised as an included feature, then that would be another story...
Typically at such low price ranges, backups are not included.
PS - Sorry for your data loss regardless. ;-(
.
well I would say the same even if the plan was expensive
actually it make more sense with expensive plan because it means you are willing to pay more to host it which indicate you have much more to lose
remember this
ALWAYS TAKE BACKUPS.
I see you are still angry @getakash1
I will not make this into a who is to blame and who is not to blame issue but let us review the facts:
SG was discontinued on the 1st of September and the backups were deleted on the 1st of October. What type of holiday were you on?
backuprefund minus any fees and the months you had happily used the service. All I can do is apologise for the sequence of unfortunate events that has led you to having no data but be clear: WE DID NOT LOSE YOUR DATA. IT WAS NOT OUR JOB TO PRESERVE YOUR DATA ON THAT PLAN YET WE DID.
We have transcripts of the chat also if you feel the urge to have it public.
Eh? 11 months?
So @getakash1 was paying £1.50 per year and he makes this big fuss?!
Well, not a big surprise.
Another girl went full PMS for 2 euro recently.
Makes me wonder what kind of priority these girls have.
Lol.
My mistake, too much happening. I meant 1st October
Someone's gonna need their flu shot
Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooooooooooow
Well, to be dickly fair, I can see why OP (she) is a little mad.
At the same time, when I look at this objectively, the price was 1.5 dollars per year. I don't even want to do the math to make it monthly.
Wrong priorities, I'd say. Wanted the world for a penny. Didn't get one. Go full PMS.
eh @ 1.5 pound? get-a-cash-2
So she moved to Fran. Goodluck to Fran!
.. and then she might go to vacation again, then site gets hack, blames Fran, ask for the past 12 month backup.
Lesson learned: Never go on vacation.
Let this be a lesson. If your site is worth $200 spend another $1.50 at another provider and keep a backup there.
So who is this guy @receivedthanks? I don't think that it's a valid username in Vanilla.
It's part of the changes. Now we have an auto-thanks-robot.
Let's hand out thanks to make these LET people happier.
Sorry for your loss. However unlikely, data lost does happen. If it's important, have a back up.
backup ?
Why?
for my sister , for my country , for everything.
Easy. Put a load balancer in front of some sisters --> have fun.
The end is nigh.
I'm waiting to receive thanks.
Done my bit.
Receive my thanks.
I like the pitch to buyshared at the end, but the question is how much did the vacation cost?
Its all your fault. You did not do your homework and learned a lesson.
This is not a review about HostDoc but more about yourself. Next time do your homework and less blame on others.
Well title has been change to reflect the real problem. I am tired of these types of reviews. You bought something for less than 2 euro and complaining that they lost your stuff but you didn't take personal responsibility to have a backup. I find the lack of holding yourself accountable is very troubling. Truly PMS.
