DCImanager 6: a new version of the control panel for servers and data center equipment management

DCImanager enables you to manage servers and different data center equipment (switches, routers, IPMI, PDU) directly from the control panel. With DCImanager, you can search serves automatically, run recovery and diagnostics modes, collect statistics using different methods, inventorize spare parts, and much more.

Today, more than 80 000 racks all over the world are managed by DCImanager.

Why did we decide to create a new panel rather than improve the existing one?
Centralized architecture of DCImanager 5 is a large monolithic system that didn’t allow us to develop and improve the product globally. In the 6th generation, we decided to use a micro service approach to improve the speed of operation, high availability, and possibility to add new functions quickly.

Today, we are ready to introduce the Live demo of DCImanager 6, a new version of the control panel for servers and data center equipment management. Now, you can evaluate the new interface and test its main features.

Development plans
We have created a new page for DCImanager 6 where you can find more information about the new control panel. You can also gain access to a Live demo, and get registered for beta testing on your equipment at the beginning of Q4 2019.

Please send us your feedback and suggestions!

Is this self hosted or "in cloud" ? I really can't see sane company running this under another company's infra.. If it's selfhosted than it's interesting

@beatpavel can you please explain new pricing model ? If you can please compare it with old one.

    Thank you

I've met with Pavel's team in Germany this year, over at CloudFest (thank you for the honey, guys) and had a very early inside look of the panel. Looked extremely promising. Looking forward to see how it goes as well.

Previously it was ~Euro 12 per 100 devices, now it is ~Euro 100 per 100 devices. Previously they had 2 options, one was per rack ~Euro 10 per rack which is no longer offered. All in all it becomes a lot more expensive to run DCIM 6 compared to DCIM 5. The only difference I can see is a new UI. ( I have not received demo access yet )

Looks like we will be building our own dedicated provisioning system.

  • @beatpavel do you have any comparison between your solution and open-source maas.io? Tks

So any new features? Or it's just an ui makeover?

DCImanager is a self-hosted panel. I completely agree with you)

The price depends on the number of devices. By ‘device” we mean any data center equipment (servers, switches, PDUs, etc) except for sensors. The more devices you have, the lower price per device. The old model was based on servers and racks (for Enterprise version). Some clients had to pay for the full rack even if they had a few units there.

Thank you! And we’re looking forward to seeing the Live-demo request from you)

Could you please specify if you had issues with getting a demo from our website? If so, please PM us or send an email to [email protected].

Speaking of the differences between the versions - please check our blog https://www.ispsystem.com/news/dcimanager6-demo#two, we have described this matter

Indeed, monetization has changed. Now we charge per device. As for pricing itself, we made market research comparing features of the competing products and their pricing and we believe that the pricing of DCImanager 6 is quite competitive. Please note that the current demo has only a small part of the functionality we well bring by the official release.

We will add new features like collocation, predictive monitoring, new notification system, advanced network equipment management. On the other side, we will improve some key features of the previous version: statistics, multiple locations, and high availability while managing large volumes of equipment. And don’t forget about the product architecture - microservice approach will improve the stability and performance of the panel. As you can see, there are way more differences besides the new UI.

DCImanager has wider features in provisioning against Maas: more OS supported (apart from CentOS, Ubuntu and Windows, we also support Debian and FreeBSD), the possibility to add your own images (e.g. in Maas you have to pay 25$ to be able to use other OS than Ubuntu or CentOS)

DCImanager can manage network equipment from the panel interface, track how racks are filled, build a network card, and work with a few data centers within a single panel. It also can alert about issues. It can also collect statistics of resources consumed such as traffic, temperature, power, etc. It all differs us from Maas.

As far as we know, they also don’t have ready integrations with billing systems such as WHMCS so they may not be able to automate server provisioning to clients.

Improved support of multi-locations of data centers, new features such as enhanced statistics, colocation, pro-active monitoring, new notifications system, and advanced network management system. please check our blog for details
