Hello LET members,

I am Ishan from Leapswitch Networks ( providing Cloud and Hosting since 2006! )

We have launched a new , never seen before on LET , Container-as-a-service offering called CloudJiffy . Watch a 2 minute video

Current process of setting up a VM/server -

  • Select a plan as per expected usage/traffic
  • Select OS
  • Install Web server
  • Install PHP/Java/NodeJS etc
  • Install database server
  • Configure everything to work with each other
  • Install SSL / LetsEncrypt
  • Secure the server

Finally, hope that the configuration works, resources will be enough and that the main node doesn't go down.

How about a revolution in this process ?

We propose -

No plan selection - Pay for the CPU/RAM/space that your application actually consumes.

Easy GUI to select -

  • Load balancer (Litespeed, Nginx, Haproxy, Varnish etc)
  • Web/Application server (Litespeed, Nginx, Apache, Tomcat, Springboot, Node etc)
  • Language (PHP , Java, Python, NodeJS, Ruby, Go with major/minor version)
  • Database (MySQL , Postgresql etc with or without clustering)

Entire setup automatically installed and configured within 5 minutes, no DevOps knowledge required. All services are setup as different containers on multiple physical servers.

Interesting ?

CloudJiffy is based on Virtuozzo 7 / Jelastic and has the following main features -

  • Anything-as-a-service - CloudJiffy will auto-deploy your preferred stack as a highly-available cluster Automatically, within Minutes.
  • Automatic Vertical scaling - Set your container to 128 MB RAM and let it scale upto 128 GB of RAM , as and when required. Perfect option for LET's Idling Containers.
  • Cloudlets - Containers are set and measured in Cloudlets used - each cloudlet is 128MB RAM and 400Mhz CPU
  • Hourly Billing - Your container(s) are billed per hour, based on number of Cloudlets used.
  • Docker Hub - CloudJiffy connects to Docker Hub so that you can deploy any public or private Docker template.

CloudJiffy also has a large number of DevOps features -

  • Web SSH - Web based SSH within CloudJiffy portal - No need to use Putty.
  • File manager - Edit config files, application files, upload/remove files and folders within the portal.
  • Statistics - View CPU, RAM, Disk, Traffic stats within CloudJiffy on a per container basis.
  • Logging - View application and container logs within the interface.
  • Clone Environments - Clone running VPS, containers or entire environments.
  • Collaborations- Collaborate with users giving them limited/unlimited access to one or more environments.
  • Alerts - Automated load alerts are setup for each of your containers are configurable through the interface.
  • Horizontal Scaling - Setup triggers and load balancers for automated horizontal scaling.

It is different, but quite simple.

You can deploy your application and we will charge you based on -

    1. Disk used ( free upto 20GB per application )
    2. Bandwidth/Data transfer used ( free upto 1GB per hour per application )
    3. Compute used ( in number of cloudlets - each having 128MB RAM / 400Mhz CPU )
    4. IPs - Optional ( Public IP is charged if used )
    5. CDN - Optional ( Verizon CDN charged per GB )
    6. Licenses - Optional ( Litespeed Web server, Litespeed ADC )

All charges are per hour and deducted from your balance. Most of our customers don't have to pay for disk or bandwidth used because they are within the free limits.

    Why don't you schedule a demo to learn more - https://calendly.com/cloudjiffy-demo ?

hopefully, will join later. too much other things to do now.

  • Your site says

    Traffic
    1GB - 499GB = $ 0.06179/GB

    That is $30.83321

Can you esplain more about this?

We have 1GB free traffic per hour per environment. So you can use ~730GB free bandwidth per environment ( not per account ) per month.

  • Ah ok its 1gb free traffic per hour. So if i use 100gb within an hour that would be 100 x $0.06179

  • I think I'm in the leapswitch Whmcs DB.

Is 'existing client' limited to CloudJiffy brand or all Leapswitch clients?

  • What is the bandwidth billing in case we get DDoSed?

Yes, it will be 99 x $0.06179 after the first the first free 1GB bandwidth of the hour.

If you have high bandwidth requirements, do get in touch with us for better bandwidth pricing.

We will work with you in this case. We have had cases where compromised applications sent out attacks consuming entire balance or getting inbound attacks for the same. We have refilled the balance in such cases as long as customers has provided steps taken to prevent future issues.

    Does the double credit expire?

`Docker Hub - CloudJiffy connects to Docker Hub so that you can deploy any public or private Docker template.

Does this mean that I can run a docker image without creating a server (Docker as a Service)?

  • Gameserver is allowed?

Does this mean that I can run a docker image without creating a server (Docker as a Service)?

Yes, that is correct. However, for security we run each Docker in its own Virtuozzo container.

You can also add custom Docker registries and deploy from it. Schedule a Demo - https://calendly.com/cloudjiffy-demo where we can understand your needs and show you how you can deploy various applications on CloudJiffy.

Considering reserved cloudlets at USA (price per month):

    1 IP = $1.55
    1 Cloudlet (128MB RAM / 400Mhz vCPU) = $1.00

So, with $7/m we could use 5 cloudlets (640MB RAM / 2GHz vCPU) + 1 IP? Is that right?

    Thanks.

If you reserve them, yes. We recommend not reserving any cloudlets to start with and let the system automatically scale if required.
Also, public IP is not required. You can deploy your app and point your CNAME/ANAME record.

  • If anyone uses 2TB bandwidth p/m the bill would be 100 bucks and something, including the 720GB free hourly bandwidth. So not so great for bandwidth-heavy users.

We can work out something for high bandwidth users. Also, the 720GB free is per environment , so if you have multiple applications, each application gets the free bandwidth.

I only see the expiry date of the offer. If I get the 100% bonus, will that credit expire?

sorry, but the billing calculation sucks is still too complicated unclear. do you calculate each hour per hour or average for longer?

again traffic as example: let's say I run an instance for a month, which allows 720GB traffic per your offer above.
now I do backups each night which might consume 10GB in less than an hour but other then that the traffic will be quite below that 1GB per hour threshold.
how much am I gonna be charged for the traffic? 30days *9GB or just nothing because still below 720GB overall?

edit: also, how do you calculate RAM usage? does fs cache matter?

sorry, but the billing calculation sucks is still too complicated unclear. do you calculate each hour per hour or average for longer?

We calculate each resource per hour ( within the hour we fetch data at 20 second intervals and average it )

again traffic as example: let's say I run an instance for a month, which allows 720GB traffic per your offer above.
now I do backups each night which might consume 10GB in less than an hour but other then that the traffic will be quite below that 1GB per hour threshold.
how much am I gonna be charged for the traffic? 30days *9GB or just nothing because still below 720GB overall?

In case of traffic, it is 1GB free per hour. So if you take a 10GB backup within an hour, you will be charged for balance 9GB used in that hour.

    That said -

    1. We include free backups - 10 backups of each of your container - 1 per day
    2. Internal traffic within region is free - you can setup a storage container to store additional backups ( upto 20GB disk free ) and transfer over private IPs. This will most likely be on a different physical node. You can even schedule the backup container to start only when required .

Jelastic has scripts on top of Virtuozzo 7 to remove fscache from being considered in billing.

thanks for clarifying. not interested then.

also I consider your advertisment heavily misleading as it suggests that you average out on a longer term and people can use 500GB in a month for $7 easily.

1GB per hour is ~2.3 Mbit/s on average or only half of it if you consider full duplex. that's ridiculous low and every bit over it is going to cost money.

you'd need to have a very constant but very low stream 24/7 to come close to those 500GB monthly in any way. I don't think that's practically even possible with organic traffic...

therefore you should remove that part in your offer as it looks like your knowingly promise things that are not achievable within your system at all

I think there was a miscommunication. Most if not all providers will subtract your usage from your monthly total allowance (e.g. on your case 720GB per month - 10GB backup will still give you 710GB). Can you clarify this @leapswitch ?
