    These VPS listed are KVM?

KVM only on their service, and you can BYO ISO through the panel without a ticket btw

Well all this talk about moms and clickbait. I am kind of hungry and wanting to call my mom now. /s

Well title has been edited. Please no more talk of moms.

If you are planning for NAT VPS, it should be doable.

That would be handy especially if they were KVM too, and in all the locations.

Well either way, the offers in the thread are really good especially for Australia.. best support experience I've ever had with a provider from LET and a joke taken the wrong way by "certain people" isn't going to change that at least not for me.

Hostdoc hasn't been around here for long, we will see. Things can turn to shit quickly and it happens a lot to providers just like the one named.

  • @PieNotEvenEaten thanks.

The fact that I see what can be considered a joke on this forum also go by without a blink of the eye and yet my thread offended so many is ludacris. Those offended must be the ones who clicked for for an unsustainable offer only to find that they had failed to read the title and jumped at merely seeing $5 per year.

If not for the mod changing my title, I would have left it there.

To those with a sense of humour, thank you for understanding and appreciating a joke.

To those just searching for the next unsustainable offer, do not be surprised when you find you cannot access your data and have to fight for a refund.

No, we have not been around for long, also stated in this thread, but since your time with us, even when we had to contact you which we did promptly, have you had any issues or complaints? If so, I'd be more than happy to hear it.

A joke in bad taste to a few with the loudest voices does not take away from our quality of service, our solid uptime and our superior support.

To be fair, HostDoc is providing a great service so far, the performance is great despite it is on HDD. Moreover, the support is fantastic and friendly. I haven't use it for production yet but in the future I might.

Although it is normal to be sceptical to a new provider, give everyone a chance since everyone was once a newcomer in any industry, at least this is how I view it on different perspectives in life. What makes them different is they are providing sustainable deals and act professionally.

Let's calm down and chill, after all Christmas is coming soon. I still remember the days where I hope for gifts from santa, but I didn't receive any more gifts on Christmas when I grown up as we have different culture here.

  • Just one thing I wonder about your TOS

    https://www.ovh.com/asia/support/termsofservice/Special_Conditions_for_Private_Cloud.pdf
The Client shall establish an easily accessible and visible system that allows any person to notify the Client of any content provided by the Client by this Service which glorifies crime against humanity, incites racial hatred, is pornographic, is an incitement to violence and injury to human dignity, or is in any other way illegal or immoral. The Client must take action on such information as soon as possible once notified.

Seems Private Cloud in SGP does not allow normal porn contents,
    https://www.ovh.com/asia/support/termsofservice/
But the 'General terms and conditions of services' is 404.

So do your TOS allow porn in SGP? (I think it may need to talk with OVH)

That would be the terms for a private cloud. As we rent bare metal, our terms are slightly different and porn (so long as not illegal) is allowed.

    5 Days To Christmas Offers | $5 Per Year VPS + IPv4 <—-[[CLICKBAIT]] | KVM VPS

  • I'm having 2 APAC region services with Hostdoc, and although I haven't opened any tickets, I think they are offering a good deal for the price, especially in APAC region.

Hostdoc charges sterling pound currency so you should do some x1.3 for USD equivalent. It is also a bit more expensive to convert from USD (either to your card or Paypal conversion fee).

Performance is fine as expected from robust hardware of OVH. Peering is fine in SEA region but the bandwidth is very limited. My service only has 100GB BW and it also counts both upstream/downstream. I think Hostdoc could have done better by offering unlimited downstream and provide upfront information regarding bandwidth pricing. No IPv6 in APAC but that's because of OVH.

The control panel is ugly but functional and they get the job done. You can upload your own ISO too. Expected HDD I/O to be like 120MB/s - 150MB/s.

Recommended for: student in APAC region, small blogger, or small geo-mirrors, voice servers and the likes. Great CPU, great alternative to Vultr smaller plan.
Not suitable for: streaming/plex, medium production usage due to severely limited bandwidth (and no IPv6).

First time I speak for a provider here.

Thank you for the kind comment and allowing us to be the first provider you have left a comment for in all the time you have been a member here. We really appreciate it.
Regarding your BW, only outbound usage is applicable and inbound is unlimited.
As you have never opened a ticket, I can see how and why this information may not have been clear and apologise.
Open a ticket asking us to reimburse your inbound traffic. We will check it and add to your allowance any BW that has been used for inbound traffic.

I would also like to thank you by offering you a free upgrade to 500GB BW for any one of your instances if in SG or double your current allowance if in AU.

Open a ticket and PM me here so I can confirm it is your account being upgraded.

I am failing to understand the problem here.
Has your Christmas spirit failed you to the point that you cannot identify an obvious good gesture joke wrapped in a CLICKBAIT disclaimer?

False advertising would be offering you a 3 year deal knowing we will fold end of December.
False advertising would be claiming I am offering $5 a year deals (which was clarified in the first paragraph).
False advertising would be offering a service I cannot provide and even worse, taking money for it.

Maybe there is a cultural difference here. Maybe some just do not know how to appreciate a bad joke.

Whatever the case may be, this is our offer thread and title. You are welcome to flag it and until somebody justifies to me exactly why it is in bad taste, I will not be changing it.

This the season to be jolly. With so much negativity around LET recently, can't we all just enjoy the coming days to Christmas without assuming every thread (even ones labeled as clickbait) are out to either defraud or angry that the thread obviously did not want to defraud.

    1. You're claiming it to be a joke, despite the warning/punchline in the subject. We're in disagreement on what is humour. It's subjective, yes, but you'll find yourself in the minority here.

    2. You DO NOT know what "click bait" is, and frustrating that you're continuing to be ignorant of that.

    3. You advertised after this "joke". If you refrained from that and posted in Offtopic, I wouldn't have gave you shit, and likely no one else would, either. There's also a day singled out in April where you can pull this shit. This isn't April.

Maybe get a millennial to explain the difference between click bait and bait-and-switch to you if you still don't grok this.

Haha I think it's that time of the month for some of these haters. A joke is a joke and clearly there are those among us lacking a sense of humor.

    2. I'm like this every day of the month

  • Just move on.

    1. I have no problem being in a minority. Would rather be a single shepherd than a sheep any day.

    2. You may just be right there. I think I may be too old for new terms and phrases kid's use these day's. My understanding of clickbait was the title would be a lie while the contents would be the truth.

    3. As mentioned, I have no issue with being a minority, nor do I have a problem with presenting my offer thread in any fashion I see fit at any month.

I'm certain you already provided links explaining the difference between these but you are welcome to invite your millennial of choice to school me in the art of clickbait as I obviously do not have a clue.

This seems to be affecting you and another individual who started a whole thread to honour this one negatively.
I apologise for not truely offering a plan you both obviously wanted.
I apologise for misleading you dispite the fact there was a disclaimer even if used wrong, it should have been a red flag.
I apologise that a whole day later it is still affecting you and a few others.

Honestly, if I knew a little of my minority humour would have caused a reaction like this, I would never have included it.
As mentioned in my first reply, it is so close to christmas, I had the jitters.
I have my family and friends around me and forgot where I was while posting on LET and thought those around me who understand my jokes where my audience.

  • I think you nailed it, the people acting like babies are the ones expecting a $5/year KVM lol

Merry Christmas, forget the idiots and thanks for giving us these offers.

Tone is hard to convey. You're definitely making this a bigger issue than it was, but you're still refusing to understand the issue and think you're perfectly OK with incorrect use of words.

But regardless, a simple "my bad" would have been better than the fake apologies. Your response is condescending instead and makes you insincere.

And being in the minority doesn't make you the Shepherd and the rest of us sheep. That's a very silly and insulting comparison. We're not talking about some blind following, we're talking about common fucking words that have a defined meaning.

You'd rather cop out as being old than just accept you thought it meant something else (which is the case). I thought it was important for you to understand you were mixed up and that caused this kerfuffle.

You had no ill intent but caused some, and I explained why and what could have been done differently. That's all that needed to be said.

Again, I believe it is you who is more worked up over this because you didn't get the reaction you expected to your joke and took offense to being corrected. My points were made. We can agree to disagree going forward.

Once again, it seems you are seeing red rather than reading the situation at hand.

I believe you are discombobulated and rather than accept the fact the "clickbait" was never real, you insist on turning this never ending wheel?

My apology was sincere, it would seem my way of conveying it clouded it somewhat.

I have apologised countless times from my very first response and yet you resort to me saying "my bad"? Do they mean different things?

I know you are angry, and for that I apologise.
My clickbait was in bad taste, and for that too, I also apologise. (But it seems you fell for the bait and clicked [Despite the disclaimer]?)

Can we accept there is no $5 per year plan and move on?
Would you like a free VPS for a month as my best way of conveying an honest apology?

It is christmas and I do not like the fact that you are coming across so angry and that my thread is the cause of it.
It is a time for family, friends, giving, celebrating and most importantly, being happy.

Please, cheer up. I am truely sorry.

We can agree to disagree going forward.

Sure. If it brings an end to this.
    Merry Xmas.

I still occasionally use CloudAtCost developer cloud :) Had it since feb 2014, bought them on sales, have 6 cores/IPs. After introduction of yearly maintenance fee many people rage quit and they are quite reasonable since - not production, but for development and testing. My total cost of ownership at this moment is $5.20/yr/core.

Just saying. With the memory, SSD, core, watt/core and b/w prices going the way they are going, the profitable $5/yr KVM is not that far in the future ;) The only expensive bit will be IPv4.
