I assume you'll only be dealing in legal file transfer. correct?

Then you should have no problem hosting a small seedbox at home. It should be almost free.

    Thirded (is that a word?).

Blazingly fast, I was on ratio-watch on http://linuxtracker.org/ until I signed up with mzunguhosting - now I'm a Power User with a >1.41 ratio.

  • Scaleway. For sure. They even have a pre-made seedbox distro.

Go for ultravps.eu and hostens (here you will have to buy extra 1 gbps port so that you get fast download and built strong ratio and if ratio building is not an option for you then you can go for default Port but note that here vps is storage vps)

If you are asking for kvm 1 TB you are asking your budget to be on higher side.

Can you recommend a KVM then? That allows torrents? And the budget?
Basically,I wanna upload and seed torrents via Windows machine only cuz' I don't know anything about linux.

Why engage in something you know nothing about? Do you have permission to distribute those files?

A lot of people upload on torrents? Right?
They must be using something that allows public trackers? I wanna use it too.

    That's it

Pretty much every decent host will have no problem with you seeding linux isos but unless you want to host in some exotic location like iran no host can just make a clause that allows you to ignore copyright. Some hosts are a bit more lax in abuse handling than others but noone is gonna shield you from law enforcement for handful of dollars.

There are offshore sites that do that btw.

You can do it even with online.net but you gotta respond to any possible abuse/DMCA in your account page.

    Lol, offshore...

  • In all seriousness, unless you are thinking of uploading actual linux ISOs then I would avoid public trackers like the plague.

As you have no Linux experience how about trying a plan with a host that specialises in torrents for a month to get the hang of the web UI etc. ? Once you've done that you could then look to setup something similar on a cheap Kimsufi or similar.

Absolutely! They'll also reply to all DMCA and abuse complaints for you. Your services aren't getting taken down unless they get raided but their armed personnel are trained for that and willing to sacrifice their lives to keep you online.

Don't even get me started on their top-of-the-line DDOS protection. Even Cloudflare is jealous.

Don't do that, he will believe it...

I think something like bitport may be a better fit for you given your previous experience.

seedbox.io, seedhost.eu, Feral hosting are available for torrent only usage (and allow public torrents).

Otherwise, OVH doesn't care much about torrents, if you're willing to learn a bit of Linux.

  • The public part is what will get you. But aside from ones mentioned, just Google seedboxes or check out r/seedboxes on reddit.

    1 USD = 556+ XOF(CFA)

  • BuyVM doesn't mind people distributing Linux ISOs. Also, they're about to launch some block storage (starting in their Last Vegas data center) that will be priced at $5/mo/TB.

I have a slice 1024 in LV waiting for that switch to be flipped so I can move my seedbox on my storage VPS in NY over.

I'm not sure exactly when it's planned to go into beta, though. You'll have to ask @Francisco about that. Probably this month or next.

  • You can use any VPS combined with a VPN for torrents, as long as the CPU is beefy enough to handle a fast VPN connection.
