US VPS for VPN

Looking to use this 24/7 with openvpn on my second (vpn) router through which I chromecast and watch US TV shows. Need lots of bw, 1 Gbit/s shared if possible to stream video content flawlessly. Other specs: Just enough to run OpenVPN just fine.

If it's gonna be cheap I will only go for reputable providers, if it's above the 10$/y mark I might wanna be able to test it before purchasing. Netflix ip block DOES NOT matter. I only wanna unlock other US video content from streaming providers that have no blocking measures in place.
Don't need it diehardly just gonna grab it if tje price is right the reason being mainly that Nordvpn servers are overloaded and I only get 4 mbit/s on Speedtest :/

Perhaps?

  • In My one month experience VmHaus was good.
They opened a new place in Loss Angelus. Switched to Hetzner because I am a cheap fuck. In my experience they are friendly with the bandwidth and have some flexibility if you open a ticket.

Seems like LowEndSpirit would be the way to go. But:

    Need lots of bw

Might be a showstopper depending on how you define lots.

  • How much bandwidth do you realistically need?

With being able to test it ~1-2 days? I can pay in advance ofc just wanna cancel&refund if it doesn't work out. Also an ip to ping would be nice. Washington has been the best ping result so far.

    Sure.

Aight^^ Waiting for some more offers then deciding^^ Also you could already pm me an ip to ping test :)

  • There's a certain KVM related company who is no longer engaging LET which has a huge amount of bandwidth available and a package that's $12/yr if you buy the bundle..

Not that I'd suggest that, since the pitchforks would come out.

What sort of bandwidth usage do you actually need? I have 1gbps upstream in Vancouver and 100mbps in Winnipeg. Winnipeg would have better latency to Europe/UK. What sort of specs do you require on the VPS? If just for OpenVPN probably 512mb/30GB/1 core would be sufficient, which I could do for $1.50/mo.

No. The plan I'm referencing is DAL-VOL 0, which comes with 10TB of traffic, but lets not get into that.

Not sure if these locations will acctually unblock US content as both test ips showed up Canada for me which surely is close to US but not always the same region with streaming providers.

    That's a lot of bandwidth :)

You might wanna read the TOS of that plan.

They don't accept new LET clients. Let's just pretend I never even mentioned it.

  • @Ympker if you're going with NAT VPS you might check @mikho he has an unmetered plans

  • Soooooooooooo...

Network is a little on the low side with 200GB, but @ramnet's TinyKVM could likely work for you. @Cam, @Mikho, and @AnthonySmith all have nice options available..

My 256mb plan comes with 500gb at full speed.
After that the port is limited to 5mb/s for the rest of the month.

Link is for Kansas location. You could also try Lenoir.

Sorry, my bad. My pre-coffee brain associated 'US' with 'North America' and I skimmed over the part where you needed it for US-based streaming services.

  • If you do a quick search on LET for NFPhosting, you might find links to some great BF deals they still have. Shhh..

Well Phoenix is in stock, its €3.50 p/year, comes with 350GB BW, that said west coast to EU is never going to be the best latency, i would strongly suggest you stick to east coast locations only unless you enjoy buffer face.

And why not? I've used CatalystHost for VPNs for a three years and it's worked fine. A very good host I recommend.

    Untrue. Proof?

Bullshit - has never happened to me and I've renewed the exact same plan at the exact same price for three years running.

    He's talking about a speedy provider, not CatalystHost ;-;
