Yeah, I edited my post to adjust that. Dream on ;)

@snelweg said: I had a slight mishap with them. That is why I will not consider them again. But thanks anyway.

:O You're the first one I come across that has had issues with Iperweb/Prometeus.. Please do tell more!

you can change the name, but the attitude stays the same.

Thanks for your great addition to this thread.

Do share so we can all laugh at you :)

You seem to have issues with the good providers / yourself for not knowing what your doing ;)

  • @Freek said: Iperweb/Prometeus.. Please do tell more!

Was more a Hostbill problem. My backupserver was suddenly gone one day, and I could get an empty new one back. I don't like that.
Nice people though, and very good servers and service.

  • @Patrick said: Do share so we can all laugh at you :)

I am sure you do not count yourself as a good provider, or are you dumb as ignorant as well?
Anyway, returning to ignoring you once again. Please do not contaminate this thread any more.

If you change your mind on the USA, I could do this.

What are the connections to Europe? Any testfiles for me to try?

  • Awmusic12635Awmusic12635 Member, Host Rep

    @snelweg :

    Dallas Test file: http://192.241.10.50/100MB.test
    NJ Test file: http://speedtest.choopa.com/100MBtest.bin

NJ would probably be a little over LEB pricing though since you need the extra RAM

  • @Jack said: Are you really going to use 2TB?

Well.... I tend to backup frequently and so I tend to use a lot of bandwidth. I was once terminated for being a fraction over the alloted amount, so I need some magin here.

  • no not as in canceled, more as in totaly being ignored without being told why my vps was offline. I terminated the crappy vps myself.

I only deal with serious people now.

    NJ Test file: http://speedtest.choopa.com/100MBtest.bin

I tested from three different locations, these are the results.

     Dallas:
      2013-04-20 16:25:47 (3.76 MB/s) - 100MB.test' saved
      2013-04-20 16:28:31 (968 KB/s) - 100MB.test' saved
      2013-04-20 16:25:19 (9.42 MB/s) - 100MB.test' saved

    NJ:
     2013-04-20 16:18:55 (276 KB/s) - 100MBtest.bin' saved
     2013-04-20 16:13:30 (1.46 MB/s) - 100MBtest.bin' saved
     2013-04-20 16:11:30 (16.3 MB/s) - 100MBtest.bin' saved

    ipv6 does not work btw....
    Resolving speedtest.choopa.com... 2001:19f0:1595:1403::1089, 108.61.5.89
Connecting to speedtest.choopa.com|2001:19f0:1595:1403::1089|:80... failed: Network is unreachable.

Looks like the Dallas one would be best for me, let me think about it. Can you pm me with a price and specs?

Can't recommend Fliphost enough, suberb value for money.

You should reconsider NJ if you are in eu tho. Choopa network is great.

  • @bobby said: Choopa network is great.

Got a VPS from Fliphost which is in Choopa, great connectivity to the Netherlands

You are a sharp observer, my compliments to you sir.

  • looks more like a torrentbox requirement than for backup

  • @snelweg why is there a need of a Gigabit port?
In my eyes 100mbps is enough for just a backup server

  • @cosmicgate said: looks more like a torrentbox requirement than for backup

    Well it is not.
But thank you for your input, where would we be without people like yourself.

    @Jacob said: Never.

Are you sure? This sounds like IPAP.co offers.

  • @joodle said: In my eyes 100mbps is enough for just a backup server

There are backups run every hour on some servers, just the download for the backup will slow my machines down. So I want the transfer as fast as possible, my machines do have Giga ports too.

@snelweg perhaps incremental backups would help?

  • @Fliphost said: perhaps incremental backups would help?

    Duh....
Been there, done that. Takes far too long to restore a machine that way. I'd rather have it all in one place so I can restore really fast.

And they are out of business already for a few years...... He has a point.

@snelweg Bacula4hosts check it out. Does incremental backups that you can restore just like they are full ones. Compression can be used as well. All with a GUI

    It is however not free.

Tried it, Bacula, R1Soft and a few others. I prefer my quick and dirty way of backupping :) It's the fastest way I ever tried.

  • I have a MyRSK VPS with the same specs. 2GB Guaranteed RAM, 200 GB Disk space, 2TB Bandwidth. It was a LEB offer for $7. I did get another box after the promo for a similiar price. Try asking them.

  • @joelgm said: I have a MyRSK VPS with the same specs.

Thank you. I already have one of these, it's one the machines that needs to be back-upped :)
Great deal btw, server works great and service is nice and fast.

thanks! Looking at it right now.
