In fact it would be great if the IRS issued its own crypto currency so people could use it with the IRS knowing it was completely above board.

    Are you feeling ok today?

If only WHMCS used some common sense...

It's just completely insane how they handle orders, invoices, fraud checks, and everything related.

    • Customers can bypass fraud checks by depositing funds
    • Customers can select one payment method and then switch over and the order doesn't update, or you can disable them switching over... and they have to contact you to switch over, but you can't switch over the payment method of the invoice/order either, but only for their entire account
    • Customers cannot use two methods of payment properly and until recently this also caused major issues when they switched over between two billing agreements
    • There's no built-in option to properly bypass fraud check for methods like Bitcoin, and the way the system is built module developers can't 100% properly do it either
    • There's no way to disable fraud checks based on user groups, in case you want to whitelist certain customers, whitelist users individually, or disable fraud checks based on customer age or any useful factor.
    • Credits auto-applying to invoices also happens when the invoice gets marked as fraud and cancelled, so customers misplace their money
    • Customers can't remove their own cancellation requests (at least give an option on automated provisioning modules?) and if an admin removes it, they may either have to manually generate an invoice, do nothing, or uncancel an invoice based on the specific situation instead of it being handled
    • Customers can't change their own terms, and as far as I know they can't disable their own automatic payments processing in their account settings
    • You can't change the default text for "fraud" orders status so sometimes customers get offended and think you're literally saying they're committing fraud when it could just be "declined."
    • There's no way to properly refund double/triple payments within their system. The invoice refunds one payment, then it gets confused and says you cannot refund above the amount even though you also received above the invoice amount.
    • AFAIK, there's no notification to customers that there was an overpayment and it has been automatically deposited to their store credit, and there's no system preventing customers from double clicking payment/add funds buttons or to prevent duplicate payments.
    • There's no good way to combine fraud checks, hook into fraud checks, or run fraud checks after the customer has already paid and the system has more information.
    • When an order gets marked as fraud it counts against the stock level, meaning something can go out of stock for someone trying to order 10x in a row and there's no good way to put it back in stock properly, other than manually cancelling all fraud orders.

Sorry if there's any errors, just what's coming to mind off the top of my head. It also doesn't help that their system is all ioncubed, the API is lacking, and they don't take any feature requests seriously. Plus most the time when something is done insanely bad, they just say it's working as intended.

A lot of those can be fixed with hooks (I know since we built hooks for them).

It's not a great system, some day I'd like to find the time to build something else.

    Exactly.

The "Add Funds" option doesn't run any fraud modules against the transaction, so we ended up having cases where someone would signup for a small service and be clean, and then they would add $XXX to their account with a stolen credit card or similar.

You're welcome to ticket billing and Karen will create a topup invoice for you.

We had to disable it for similar issues on mxroute.io, not only that, but also because we can't justify it in accounting... :|

Most of those can easily be handled with hooks as Francisco mentioned or template edits, WHMCS is highly customizable - much more than anyone thinks ;)

Just give BoxBilling a try, you'll learn to quit bitchin' and be happy with WHMCS.
