i forgot about that 1 ip limitation but for me its enough. if you find in EU a dedi with i5,2TB,16GB ram and kvm console for $15 or less please let me know.

I know how WHT mods work, they have hidden the thread for now and asked for extra information. They don't have enough to prove who he is, but they have tools to track if he is indeed Prout. They got tons of info on him to compare.

This will take quite a while, he won't be able to post offers but he won't be banned yet.

Who da fuck needs power? Prout is powering them servers wireless just like his smartphone!

(And them 6 * 400 GB disks probably are, uhm, "virtual").

They should ask him whether for 5$ more one can get them servers with 10Gb unlimited.

some would have already bought it if it happened in BF day.... and then they come and cry after the monday....off course.

offers - cheap things also make me blind.

The config you are talking about is on kimsufi at 20,99E - VAT (total of around 25E) that in total is around 30$

Wow this blew up. I never thought it might be a scam, I thought he got some real old hardware (400GB made me think of the Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 disks which came out a decade ago) at a closeout and put them up for a spin. Really, I just wanted to help the community.

This https://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1682348&p=9969049#post9969049 is very funny because that address is up for sale for 53 days now so when he wrote it he was already trying to sell it or just wrote a fake address.

Is it hybridvm.net? If so yeah, that's Prout.

Meets all of my criteria. My criteria has the potential to be flawed, but a 100% success rate on no less than 5 of his businesses. With Prout, you really can't do better than that.

Plus, the annually paid servers.. It's just weird, looks like hit n run host.

What can we do in this case to protect others from this scam? I'll do some investigation here.

Find where he's posting ads and warn people. Though, a lot of those places don't like newcomers doing that.

Definitely not. I wonder what DC they've chosen now to host their victims..

  • A TL;DR explanation of the scam?

A TL;DR explanation of the scam?

Step 1: Do cheap colocation deal.
    Step 2: Disappear with hardware.
Step 3: New name, new company.
Step 4: Cheap dedicated servers (oh look at all this free hardware)
    Step 5: Cheap colocation deal.

Rinse and repeat every 2-3 months. Somewhere in between those items is "Create an account pretending to be a customer from your previous scam who received their hardware back."

    Interesting...

There are plenty of threads, search Joshua Prout.

Basically, the guy stole lots of hardware from his colocation customers / had deals going on / pre-paid deals / ran away / he's a convicted criminal / starts many "companies" / flies away with the money / nobody hears from the company again.

Maybe we could PM the agent here to investigate further / warn about this?

Best option is for people who lose hardware to file charges in Houston so the DA has something to work with.

And how this is legally possible? I mean, if you are scamming people with the same name how you are not yet in jail?

Make a friend online that doesn't frequent these communities, ask them to be the front of your next company. Every time it's a new person. Sometimes the person is real, sometimes fake. Usually real. We've actually had a legitimate person send us a photo of themselves holding their ID to prove it was their company, while still being Joshua Prout's.

Cheap customers usually don't sue or file charges, they cut their losses and move on.

Just colo with that guy who wants to start a colo/VPS business from his basement and I'm sure the same shit would happen.
