Rebranding GridHostingSolutions

JeffreyJeffrey Member
edited March 2013 in General

Hello everyone, I am currently looking into rebranding GridHostingSolutions. I opened it up in September of 2011 and later sold it in January of 2013 due to family issues. I was not sure if I would be back online any longer when I was looking to sell it, as I got into legal trouble unfortunately, with drugs. Luckily, the charges were dropped and I am not going to be locked up and I can continue to live my life like it was before, however, making much better decisions in life.

So far I have a great template picked out for the re-opening of GridHostingSolutions and I have gotten in touch with multiple datacenters in Florida, USA for deals. As of right now, I am currently looking into focusing on selling server services in Florida, USA and possibly the UK or Chicago, IL. When I do get GridHostingSolutions back up and running however, I will need someone to join me on this adventure, on the sales side. I lack sales experience, however, I can manage the hosting side of things just fine. This year, I will become CCNA Certified, Dreamweaver Certified and Photoshop Certified. At my school, I currently help my Cisco Networking teacher managing the servers in the multiple mini-datacenters around the school campus. If you are good in the sales field and would like to help out in this adventure, please respond below and Email me at: [email protected]. It would be greatly appreciated if you could send in your experience in the hosting/sales field and living in the state of Florida would be preffered, however, not necessary.

What I Am Currently On Planning On Offering:

Unmanaged SolusVM OpenVZ/XEN VPS Servers (OpenVZ) - Orlando, FL
Managed Dedicated Servers - Orlando, FL

Well I'll give you credit for being candid and honest about what happened. Scary stuff. Hoping you stay on the straight and narrow path. Best of luck with everything!

    @Jeffrey said: great template

I cringed a little when you said that, but nice job on being transparent, I wish you luck in the reopening.

  • @pubcrawler Thank you and @RobertClarke Haha, thank you!

I admire you for being so transparant about what has happened, and haven't hidden anything. I hope things stay OK for you in the future.

I wish you luck in the re-opening/re-branding.

So did you buy the business back? I wish you all the best of luck in your venture.

  • Best of luck for your future :).
and your upcoming line of business....

  • @Sperryman he was not offering vps previously only shared and reseller hosting..

  • @Sperryman I only sold the clients, I kept the brand. @MikeIn thank you and I was selling OpenVZ VPS Servers out of the new BHS Canada location with OVH, however, those did not sell very well because people did not like OVH. Thank you @dominicl

No problem. In Florida, I'd strongly recommend HostDime.

  • @dominicl Yes, I have contacted them and currently awaiting a response from a Dedicated Server Specialist.

    They're expensive. Like expensive.

Try and get Marcos F if you can ;)

    hdums.com isn't too bad.

  • First commend you for turning your life around. Second I would suggest finding a partner that will buy in 50%. Reason is just in case you fall off the wagon. Not saying you will, but prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

  • Great news everyone. I am currently working with a DC in Tampa, Florida on offering very low-end Dedicated servers for less than $15/Month. They will have the following:

    Intel Celeron 1.7Ghz CPU's
    1GB DDR2 RAM
250GB Bandwidth? (Not worked out yet)

The idea of this is to have these low-end dedicated servers compete with low-end VPS Servers at a similar price. This DC is also willing to give me a full rack, with 40 empty units for these bad boys. :)

They are for anything decent for hosting. I would rather go with Quadranet @ Miami.

    They're also good :)

  • any of the boys at hostdime can help. Manny the CEO is probably one of the nicest guys I have ever met. They bend over backwards to keep you!

@Jeffrey - $15/mo is really hard to achieve, I tried writing a business plan based on it as proof of concept but just couldn't do it. Do you perhaps get discount? Do you plan to make any profit at all? 250GB should be fine, resellers will do the overcomitting on the bandwidth for you :-)

edit: you should take a look at atoms, they use a lot less power (didn't intel release one with support upto 8GB with ECC and HT?)

  • If you're interested in hostdime I can put you in contact with someone there that I've worked with for over 10 years. He'll get you good pricing :)

  • @MrObvious That would be great. Someone on Live Chat opened a ticket for me and it has been unresponded to now for over an hour.

I know the dedicated servers team do get extremely busy, so it may take a while :) Just FYI. Support is extremely quick though.

You know what? There is a market for low end dedicated servers. No one really wants to address it though.

  • @pubcrawler , Why not? I mean, having a low-end dedicated server means, dedicated resources and I'm sure they would perform better than a low-end OpenVZ VPS on an oversold Node unit. ;)

  • It would be interesting if you can get a sub $15 deal on those low end dedicated servers. I've looked into offering low end dedicated servers before but I couldn't get the pricing right.

  • @titanicsaled I believe I've gotten the pricing just right with this datacenter. :)

  • @Jeffrey, no idea why folks aren't offering low end dedicated servers. Yeah there is a market.

    HostDime? Good luck with that...

  • Yep, lots of past tense horror stories and warnings with HostDime. Haven't heard much lately though. Hoping they've improved.

  • @Jeffrey

Can you share some more information?

  • @pubcrawler They had issues like 8-9 years ago. They were great for me when I was with them for like 4-5 years ago.
