Cmon, i want to see some XEON European offers .
Physically UK it is not part of Europe because England is part of the British Isles.

    But seriously, 16+

    RAID 0 ;-)?

Probably no RAID, but dependant on the size of the individual disks.

    If I had 20TB+, I'd potentially go to RAID1.

  • @Clouvider said:

Why not? Suicide RAID gives more space.
I am looking for "only" 8+

    Come on providers.

You all have some older hardware gathering dust somewhere with 4 drive bays. Work out what it'd cost to shove 2, 3 or 4TB drives in all 4, top it off with a power-friendly CPU and a couple of sticks of RAM you have lying around, then make some offers.

To paraphrase Kevin Costner, if you build them, these cheapskate cunts will probably buy them.

And the promo code doesnt work.

The price matches, but the site says 8x1TB, 1000mbps port and one is forced to pick additional options that cost extra. Also the coupon doesn't apply to the order.

Honest question, why do you need so much disk space? What can you possibly need it for?

Digital media. My combined library is in the region of 9TB at present and that's with TV mainly in SD and movies in 720P, it'd like to start stepping up everything to 1080p soon so I'll need more space to cope. I also like to keep a spare disk so if I ever what to bring data home, I can copy to that, have it pulled, shipped and replaced.

4K VR is where it's at now, it's terrifying in so many ways.

But at that rate, you are bound to get to 50TB in about a year or two. What are you gonna do once you start getting into 100TB+ territory. That is going to get expensive to support as a hobby, I mean you damn well are almost trying to get the a personal netflix library.

I'm not a hoarder, I'll always be pruning. Moving to 1080p will maybe double the current library, but then it'll remain static, particularly as there are newer codecs that do plenty of good work to reduce the size of HD files considerably.

But yes, I am aiming for a personal Netflix library as my tastes are somewhat unusual and not catered for by any one service.

@Nekki do you even VPN when torrenting? :P

I'd never torrent from my own machine. Everything's done remotely, using the appropriate services, then transferred to the appropriate machines in the appropriate locations.

Aha :P Im not so sure Id trust these remote torrent services like Streamza/Bitport etc. I mean afterall if things go bad they have your torrent requests right? If you do it other ways masking your ip that's fine I guess^^ Anyway to everyone his own :P Your Nekkiflix I trust you have your waye^^
